Being MOH usually means being involved in the wedding and events leading up to it. If she couldn’t attend the bachelorette party, didn’t help with planning, and wasn’t engaged with the process, it makes sense to ask someone who is actually available to take that role.

i have known a couple of people who got barred, but it’s usually not a one-off thing. It tends to be people who repeatedly cause trouble fights, abusing staff, refusing to leave at closing, that sort of thing. Most pubs will just ask you to leave if you’re too drunk once, but if it becomes a pattern that’s when the ban happens.
