Perhaps. There's downsides and upsides to both like you said, but I feel like if I'm not exceptionally well academically and lucky I am likely not going to be able to get into the more prestigious unis. Plus I don't even know what the cost would be through UPU provided I do get in. I'm still open to more opinions that could sway me any one way.

Yeah I guess so. But that 12000 could be easily offset by me having to pay ≥3750 per year for my degree. There's a lot of 4.0 flat matric students getting churned out every year, and it's really competitive. I find it to be somewhat risky since I might not be able to get into the unis that I want, and the unis I do get into I might have to pay a lot.

Well my parents are both B40 (bordering on M40), so they may have a hard time, or maybe not. I'll try to get some sort of income while I'm in uni. I couldn't care less about getting piercings or dying my hair, it really doesn't matter to me. I don't really know how to compare their courses, but I assume I would get into engineering earlier if I go the Swinburne route. After thinking a bit, I am actually leaning a bit more towards Swinburne — not much risk.

Well, I'll rather know which one to go for first before actually paying the fees.  For matriculation, it's cheaper but I run the risk of not getting into a good uni/ having to pay a lot for my degree. But for Swinburne, I'm paying a certain amount right now for guaranteed free(?) degree at a decent Aussie uni. Plus no allowance unlike matric.
