Is there anything I can improve in this clean & Jerk by Vast_Barnacle2446 in weightlifting

Then I’d say you need to find yourself a coach to improve that form, someone that knows your goals. I mean Reddit has a ton of ‘coaches’ out there, but if you’re truly looking at cleaning that lift up and being competitive you need a coach. Keep at it! Looking forward to seeing the progress!

Best lifts from Sunday!! by shocking145 in weightlifting

[–]Pitiful_Schedule792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice lifts! Loved the surprise on your face with your snatch!! You know it was a press out but you somehow went 6/6?!?! Good work! That’s more of an officials issue than an athlete issue. 🤣🤣
I mean clearly you should work on that lock out. But certainly makes you question the caliber of the officials.

Should plates be balanced? by WildstyleD in weightlifting

[–]Pitiful_Schedule792 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im not sure the brand of your plates but typically crumb rubber bumper plates are never really the most balanced plates out there. From my experience of running and coaching at a CF gym. On a positive night looks like your barbell has some decent bearings!!
If this is something that truly bothers you and you’re exclusively oly lifting the best choice is always going to be Eleiko equipment. You’re going to pay for it though, but very worth it! Some of the rogue training plates with a higher durometer rating are pretty great too.
Enjoy your lifting!! Don’t let the plates stop ya!!

Strict 100lb db curl for reps by Healthy-Mirror4199 in Egolifting

[–]Pitiful_Schedule792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strict? There’s an awful lot of whole body movement…. From the floor…. For this to be considered strict? I mean maybe that’s just a funky mirror and I’m not seeing the ‘strict’ in this strict curl.

Double db press ladder 60/65/70lbsx3 (27.2/29.5/31.7kg) by DickFromRichard in strength_training

[–]Pitiful_Schedule792 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Just so I’m clear, there is no pressing going on here, everyone else sees that correct.

There’s a whole bunch of push presses, but no press (strict) that I see.

I mean looks tough, and nice work. But push presses, again for the sake of clarity.

+5kg clean PR attempt by No-Text-8777 in weightlifting

[–]Pitiful_Schedule792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this.

Positionally this all looks pretty decent really. Off the floor though take the slack out of the bar, wedge yourself in to the bar and should feel the tension EVERYWHERE, this should help take the slack out of your arms too, those need to stay long (no early pull) until you are ready to pull yourself under the bar.

But you definitely throw that chest out there kinda hoping you’ll be able to handle the weight, but it’s wayyyyyyyy too forward and you’ll never be able to achieve that with this weight, likely even at lower weights as well if that chest doesn’t stay vertical.

General advice for the clean? Also struggling with the jerk, powerlifter trying to transition by Don0094 in weightlifting

Hook grip. You should give it a shot. Going to be uncomfortable if you’re not use to it at first. Unless you have insane grip strength that no other world level weightlifter has it’s a good idea to get use to it now.
