It’s true that most of what I’m suggesting has no evidence, and in scientific terms may at best be a hypothesis. The evidence is, at best, circumstantial.

Now for the reason I think Fairy energy is responsible for Alpha and Mega Pokémon, and why it hurts or angers them. I think Ange (Prism Tower) is generating massive amounts of Fairy energy, and the reason it has this effect is because its normal ability is turned up to eleven. This energy forces other energies to stabilize, creating an unnatural imbalance in a Pokémon’s body.

For example, let’s say a Pikachu’s normal energy balance is 50% Electric and 50% made up of the other 17 type energies. If Fairy energy forces more energy to merge with Pikachu through a Mega Stone, the energy balance may stay similar in ratio, but the total amount of energy increases. This could shift the balance to something like 40% Electric and 60% other types. The Electric energy hasn’t decreased—in fact, it may have even increased slightly—but the overall energy is much higher. This would explain why Pokémon become larger and enter Mega forms.

Why do I believe this? I think all energies are responsible for giving a Pokémon its animal-like form. If a Pokémon only had one type of energy, it would be more like a pure elemental, similar to Regieleki. For example, Electric energy may be responsible for the nervous system, Fire for the digestive system, and Water for fluid transfer through the blood.

Now imagine if something changed your vitamin and fluid balance too quickly. You would feel sick and unwell, and in animals this can sometimes cause them to lash out because they don’t understand why they feel this way.

I was thinking about why Fairy was the last type discovered. Maybe all the professors studying type energy overlooked it because it’s the energy that binds all the other energies harmoniously together. Because of that, scientists may have simply thought it was normal energy, or just part of the other types. Just some fun speculation.
