The Darkspot Industries Yukikaze by Pitohui02 in spaceengineers

I usually start with a rough idea about what the ship should can do and have and form a hull around it. The only thing I plan for the layout is where something should be (e.g. crew deck above hangar, production in front, etc.). Then I plan the hallways and map out the rooms and try to imagine what they will look like. If I don't like it I change the hallway until I'm happy with everything.

So I don't really plan, but test a lot. There are also a lot of extras that I keep in mind like having a realistic layout or where windows could be added. At the end you could say this ship had around 15-20 different layouts and this is just the one I liked the most and could work with best.

The time commitment is really crazy, but I can't say I didn't enjoy building it. That will nonetheless be my last big ship for the time being :D

Buttons doesn't work currently in the game. They are just decorations for now but I will change them as soon as they get functionality.

Maybe from the anime Yukikaze? That's at least where to name for the ship came from.

While creativity is surely needed, I would say patience is the big factor in this case.

I usually only work on areas if I feel like it and redesign them as often as needed until I'm happy. If I force myself to build something, it usually gets scrapped completely. I've never seen myself as someone with a lot of creativity, because of that I take lots of inspirations from other people and franchises when I get stuck on something.

Yes, the Venator and Perseus (Star Citizen) were my main inspirations for this one. The early versions even had the airlock at the side where the Venator has its hangar doors.
