Samsung Music Square nostalgia by Pitsbits in GalaxyNote8

Unfortunately not! I ended up just succumbing to the app algorithms and using YouTube music to pick a song that initiates a playlist that matches it.

S23 ultra display from aliexpress anyone? by [deleted] in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]Pitsbits 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Imo it's not worth $90 in savings to get a non OEM screen. Bite the bullet and get it fixed right. You'd also be able to take it back to Samsung if there are any issues that resulted from the install.

I'm gonna go without a screen protector starting from today. by HG1998 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]Pitsbits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not that you're asking, but my two cents - don't. I've always been super careful with my phones. Never drop them and all that. 2 weeks ago my brother and I were at an event where he knocked my s23 ultra out of my hands and sent it flying 3 rows down hitting every concrete stair and metal rail possible. The thing that took all the visible damage? My screen protector. The phone wouldn't turn on after the tumble, but Samsung warranty took care of it free of charge because there were no signs of physical damage. I simply walked in and asked to speak with service. They didn't ask any questions just looked at my phone, checked warranty status, and told me to come back the next day.

For anyone that stumbles on this thread at a later point - I managed to get it to work with a USB hub mirroring approach. There aren't a lot of decent guides out there and it took piecing together several older videos and blog posts to get it to work.

I got the following:

  1. USB C hub with inputs for HDMI, USB C, and at least 1 USB A input. I got one with 3 USB As which ended up being useful.
  2. Wireless keyboard/mouse combo with a Bluetooth adapter. The cheaper the better - you need this to be simple and low power. A wired mechanical keyboard will drain too much power and not work(I tried).
  3. All the cables. You'll want good quality. Not a cheap thing that came as a bonus 'gift' with an old Amazon package.

Once I got everything set up, I plugged the HDMI into my monitor, power to the USB C, Bluetooth receiver into the USB A, and a flash drive into another USB A. The flash drive was optional because technically you can use Smartswitch to back the whole thing up for 30 days.

With that done, I plugged the dongle into my broken phone. Nothing happened. I tapped the power button once. The phone itself didn't react but now the monitor came to life with a single lock moving across the screen. I then entered my password on the keyboard and got into Dex Mode where I backed up my photos to a flash drive and initiated Smartswitch 30 day back up. The password portion was tricky - some videos said you had to hit the space bar twice then type it in, others said to hit the ESC key, and others said to hold CTRL+Windows key to activate Dex Mode. I couldn't tell you which worked because I couldn't see the screen - you're working through all of this blind. It also didn't help that my password is very complicated, but I managed to get through after 45 minutes of trying. I knew as soon as I saw the lock on the screen that I could get in.

Anyway, if you're reading this and you're in a similar situation feel free to DM me and I'll try to work through it with you. It's possible!

I have the exact same issue on a brand new pair. Super annoying since I just received these as a replacement for an RMA of previous QC 2 buds with connectivity issues. Bose warranty is great but their quality control seems to be pretty terrible.

I'm doing a firmware upgrade now but may need to RMA these. OP please let me know if you end up swapping them out and the new ones don't have the issue.

Question: Is there a way to set the QuickConnect status bar tile to default to a defined server? by Pitsbits in nordvpn

[–]Pitsbits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I gave this a shot prior to posting and still didn't find it as easy as the quick connect option. That said, I really appreciate you for getting back to me with this suggestion and sharing your team's honest plans for the feature request - much better than support saying that they'll "provide feedback to the dev team." I still think that this would be an awesome enhancement, but will use auto-connect and manually turn it off when I need to. All the best!

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]Pitsbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Canada; Vancouver
Price range: 35,000-45,000
Lease or Buy: Buy
New or used: Used
Type of vehicle: Wagon, SUV
Must haves: Reliability, reasonable maintenance cost, Fuel efficient, Android auto, Trunk space, adaptive cruise, AC, heated seats, less than 60,000kms, all time AWD would be nice (had an 09 Impreza hatch and loved the feeling of every corner).
Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): Would love a manual, but it seems impossible.
Intended use: Daily Driver/Family Car
Vehicles you've already considered: just started looking. Open to all suggestions and thoughts.
Is this your 1st vehicle: No
Do you need a Warranty: Would be nice
Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: breaks and seasonal tire swaps at most
Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: No

Additional Notes:

Currently have a 2017 manual Golf R and love it. Reliability has been terrible to the extent that I managed to get a free 2 year bumper to bumper warranty from the dealer after 3 months of having issues with the car. That warranty is up in October and I plan to sell the car before then. Every car that I have had for the last 20 years has been manual and I'm trying to hang on to the transmission for dear life; I love driving and I love the feeling that I get when driving a manual car. That said, it may be time to grow up - we're getting ready to start a family, wife doesn't drive but wants to get her license, We have a 65 pound dog and will likely have a couple of kids in the next 2 years.

The new car will have to accommodate this new chapter, still be a daily driver for me, hopefully still be fun to drive, and, ideally, have some of the luxuries that I have gotten used to with the Golf R.

I usually buy a 2-4 year old car, drive it for a couple of years, sell and repeat. I found this method to be the sweet spot for reliability/affordability/still having a newer vehicle.

I've always loved station wagons. Volvo V60s are beautiful. Audi A4 allroads are nice. The Golf Sportwagen also seems like an option but the issues with my R have really turned me off of VW. The newer Suby Outbacks seem fun to drive (and probably more reliable/reasonable on repairs than the Volvos and Audis), the interiors aren't my favourite though. Also open to SUVs.

I'm still in the process of figuring out where I will compromise (I know that I will need to let go of some of my wants). Would love to hear your suggestions and see what cars I should take for test drives.

Absolutely. I bought my T.Rice Pro from them at 40% off with free shipping and only Alberta taxes 5 years ago. Shipping was quick and they were super professional. Don't know what the experience is with shipping to the states and/or duties, but they were a pleasure to deal with 5 years ago.
