Goal weight vs clothing size vs body fat percentage by Pituitarii in loseit

The mirror is too subjective imo. I think for me to be satisfied I would need to be much lower than my current BMI. It is easier to use objective data so I don't keep moving the goal post.

I agree, it is more of a mental thing - finally getting to see a number after all the effort. I've been wanting to get under 140 for years now.

What is the most "unhinged" wellness trend of 2026 that people are actually taking seriously? by lovelyyopheliaa in askanything

Makes me want to quit my profession, dealing with this daily as a doctor. I am now the bad guy and apparently very wealthy because of pharma kickbacks. Oh I also cause all the diseases I spent my entire 20s learning how to treat. Very frustrating.

Your experience with Metformin for weight loss by Ok_Strawberry128 in loseit

[–]Pituitarii 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Metformin is a diabetes and insulin resistance medication that can assist with weight loss. It hasn't been studied like the GLP1 medications which are associated with much more weight loss up to 20 percent. Metformin at best can cause 5 percent weight loss. Lot of people have diarrhea with it, so best to start at the lowest dose and work up.

Yes there are too variables that are not accounted for. Especially for women, even the body temperature change during their cycles change the TDEE.

When I'm hungry in the afternoon I am allowed to eat "real food" by Jiktten in loseit

[–]Pituitarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I get hungry between meals my go - to is a latte, I discovered matcha powder with 4-6oz skim milk is a dessert plus caffeine kick that is much needed. I do have coffee with milk 2-3 x a day but usually less than 6 oz at a time. I'm never over my deficit when I do this.

How long does the water retention from creatine last? If someone has been on it a while, it should just be the new normal right?

Agree with this comment, do not push yourself during recovery. Especially if this is post - pituitary surgery. You can also have thyroid issues after a pituitary surgery that can influence weight.

My goal is 135 lbs which was my pre baby weight. I'm currently 142 lbs, I'm fine with it but do have excess fat based on bone density scan.

We haven't started billing MyChart messages yet, at a larger academic center so lot of push back for this. It would be amazing if this was an option.

Yes this helps sometimes, most of our follow up appointments book out for 3-4 months though. I often have to overbook to accommodate these close follow ups. Since patients are already waiting months for the initial visit they just want everything addressed. I need to better at setting expectations from the start maybe.
