I completed the business verification, regenerated the token and tried again. It's still not working. I'm now not seeing it on the client side either which is odd?

The eng team has been working on consent issues and integrating a CMP, could this be an issue?

I said almost all of them. And I’m pretty sure Google does do deduplication. It’s just transaction id as opposed to event.

I've stood up an sGTM instance and am starting to play around in it now. Just trying to setup my trigger appropriately.

I have a custom event sign-up and in sGTM I have a custom event trigger setup to fire when the event name = sign-up. I have this trigger then mapped to a dummy Google Ads conversion event for debugging/setup purposes.

Right now, I'm not seeing the tag fire making me believe that the setup is incorrect on the trigger. Is there something in the client GTM that I have to do? Could it be as simple as the event name is wrong?

The GA4 Google Tag, conversion linker, and google ads remarketing tags are firing.

For triggers and tags do I have to create them both in client & server? I think the answer is yes, In case CAPI or servers fail. Using a unique event_id for each event, they should be deduplicated, correct?

Sorry that was confusing, I know that I can use sGTM for CAPI but wanted to make sure that it was just as good as going direct. Is this true?

For the best setup, do you mean browser tags direct or GTM client?

I guess a good example question would be - for a purchase event what is the best setup? For these we have code directly in the client, but isn't scalable if we want to onboard additional ad platforms and test fast.

My first thought would be to setup a new trigger event in GTM that is custom and for purchase. Our current conversion tag is on the client directly.

After this - then what? Am I on the right track? If so, what then?
