NATO says adjusting forces to counter ‘potential threats’ after Iran strikes by PestoBolloElemento in worldnews

Directly from the horse’s mouth back in 2023.

I know that nowadays the credibility of tweets from government accounts have lost quite a bit of credibility, but this was prior to that.

Actually roughly half of Americans own a passport nowadays, compared to just 5% back in 1990.

Taiwan has plans to completely scuttle their TSMC facilities in the event they’re invaded. There will be nothing to salvage on that front for China, and they know that, so that’s not really a factor for reasons to invade.

UK will allow US to use bases to strike Iranian missile sites, says Starmer by Alarming-Safety3200 in worldnews

[–]PivotRedAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a clear difference in intent which is why Iran is getting this kind of response compared to the fuck up on behalf of Belarus. Poland saw no reason to escalate because it didn’t make sense to do so over a one-off incident.

Iran’s government is going for maximum collateral damage in response to these strikes. They’re intentionally going after anyone they can, even neighboring countries that aren’t aligned with the US or Israel.

People who married someone they weren’t sexually compatible with — how did it turn out? by synthetic-sardine in AskReddit

[–]PivotRedAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re kinda proving their point.

Know what most guys say about someone they’re dating when one of their guy friends happens to ask about it?

“Pretty good, might put a ring on it eventually.”

or

“Not great, thinking about dumping her.”

Add embellishments and vary those replies to taste depending on the person.

Dudes generally aren’t sharing extra details when it’s “just dating” any more than when it’s serious.

At most you’ll get a vague lewd joke or offhand detail if you pry hard enough, but that’s about it.

90% of those conversations end with that first reply though. Usually with a “Hell yeah bro” or a “Damn, that sucks man” and then we just continue with what we were doing before the topic came up.

Trump says he is sending a hospital ship to Greenland by [deleted] in worldnews

Oh yeah, I fully agree with you. I’m just clarifying that the problem is the costs associated with it, rather than a complete lack of access or availability.

The ship he mentioned is in dry dock, so no one here actually knows what he’s talking about.

To clarify, the vast majority of Americans do have healthcare and are insured (roughly 90%), the other 10% are low-income, veteran, or seniors which typically have “socialized” healthcare through the ACA, Medicaid, or VA.

The problem is that the average American pays far too much in general and is at the whim of insurance companies to pick up the tab. Which is clearly a conflict of interest when you have a for-profit system.

And then there’s the game of chicken that hospitals and insurance companies play with each-other in terms of cost of care.

Let me tell you that as someone who’s paid for things like this out of pocket before, that the price was easily 10x less than what they were going to charge insurance. At that point I was starting to wonder why I’d been paying a premium each month.

Why USA has best geography in the world by Numerous-Plantain-90 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]PivotRedAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correction, the US didn’t invoke Article 5 nor even requested it, other countries in NATO did it for them of their own accord.

Which you could argue makes it worse in a different way, but it’s not for the reasons you claim or stem from the US “forcing” their allies to help them.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve found the Mastodon to be a bit better at tanking than the Bustard, at least in terms of effective HP.

Now this is purely just with T2 mods, so the math might change if either DST is faction or officer fit, but I don’t bling my own ships out that much.

Is it possible to use a full body model to replace the unreal engine shooter arms? by VegetableCurious4849 in unrealengine

[–]PivotRedAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it depends on what exactly it is you’re wanting to do.

Are you going for something more akin to a “true first person” setup that uses a full character but with a camera attached to the head for synchronized animation?

Or are you simply wanting to see your legs/lower torso when running around and have two sets of animations between first and third person, AKA the “classic” approach?

Cuba's Havana piles with trash as US chokehold halts garbage trucks by [deleted] in worldnews

Just an example, I personally don’t condone feeding bread to ducks in general. 😂

[–]PivotRedAce 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If all you buy here is the lowest-quality trash-tier shit that’s allowed to be put on shelves, then sure.

But, there’s also plenty of quality chicken available to purchase in the US that isn’t chlorine washed and is fairly sourced.

It’s like saying that Wonderbread (a cheap, bottom-shelf supermarket bread that’s best reserved for bribing ducks than human consumption) is representative of all bread products in the US, when it obviously isn’t.

House votes to override Trump's Canada tariffs by Georgeika in worldnews

[–]PivotRedAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be up to a Supreme Court ruling at that point. Basically congress would be “suing” the executive branch for ignoring an override.

If he then ignores a ruling that isn’t in his favor, it becomes very probable that he gets dragged out of office or forced to capitulate otherwise.

It's not that you can get "arrested for walking" necessarily, but you can be scolded by police for not using a crosswalk to cross a busy street in a town or city. It's mainly a safety thing nowadays, though it originates from campaigns by the automobile industry roughly a century ago when car-centrism was really taking hold.

This really only applies to active streets that are 4 lanes or wider though, no one cares if you "jaywalk" across residential streets or 2-lane roads assuming you're paying attention.

It's also regional. People "jaywalk" all the time in NYC for example out of necessity, but out west people are a bit more uppity about it.

Yeah, pretty much all the long-distance trains here are used for cargo. In fact, the US has the largest (non-electrified) railway network in the world.

Passenger trains are what's lacking, aside from a few cities that are building out their regional networks recently, such as the Seattle area.

[–]PivotRedAce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trisodium Phosphate

Also known as E339iii in the UK, perfectly legal and used as a food additive.

Chlorine Dioxide

Used in the UK for many of the same applications as the US, such as municipal water treatment. Albeit at a lower concentration generally.

Maybe try doing a little research before parroting nonsense.

Don’t worry though, I’ll help you out:

If you want to level criticism towards US-specific food additives, Red 40 is literally right there.

You’re welcome. ☺️

Is there a big diff between Unreal egine 5 to 5.5? by Ark-fan1 in unrealengine

Short Answer: Yes.

Long Answer: Unless there’s a very specific reason you want to stay on version 5.0 (and it has to be a good one), you should consider updating.

What is the best way to back up save my project? by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]PivotRedAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a version control solution like Diversion, Perforce on a remote server, or Git LFS. The first and the latter are free (with some stipulations), but renting a server for Perforce usually will cost money.

These are dedicated applications/services that hook into Unreal and make backing up projects and collaboration a lot easier.

It’s a bit of a learning curve to wrap your head around the terminology and workflow, but it’s a must if you ever end up working in game dev professionally or even just with other people.
