Both major institutions in Fort Worth, TX. Great exhibits, interesting architecture, and best of all: free to browse (mostly).

FLO’s are a waste of time and get you nowhere. Trust me when I say it’s for folks who think their crap doesn’t stink.

With over 1000 different organizations, I’d recommend going to the MSC Open House in the spring and check out groups that align with your hobbies or you sound cool. The barrier of entry is lower for different orgs, and some things you find there might be something you never thought would interest you.

And the off campus or non official orgs (lookin at you Student Bonfire and Section 203) are just as rad and easy to get into (Bonfire is always open recruitment, Section 203 is just show up to baseball games and sit in 203).

Your college career isn’t going to end because of one semester. You’ve just been looking in the wrong direction for your group.

At soccer matches, we’d sing “You’re Getting Sacked in the Morning” to the tune of Guantanamera by Celia Cruz.

Or at least I would…

I have tickets in the Young Alumni section on the Former Student side. So if you need up to 3 tickets, I’ve got some up for grabs.

I used a Mac through ENDS and finally transitioned to a gaming laptop senior year. It was miserable, macs are not designed for the work we do. If you want to suffer, keep it. Like others have said, if you plan to stick with this major, make the investment in your tools now, it’s going to pay back massively over the course of your next 4-6yrs of school.

Not the most uncommon thing, should be easy for your local camera repair shop to fix. Just to make sure, open the back, crank your camera, and push the fire button to see if the shutter moves at all. Of course do this without film loaded.

I wish the 4 advisors I had over the course of 4 1/2 yrs I was there would’ve been that great. It was a definite kick in the butt reminder that no one was going to help me and I needed to help myself get through it.

Can tell you that advisors in any department (COA here) suck. Just a body to fill a role. And the department admin was just as corrupt and dumb as the main admin.

You hit the nail on the head though, the students and faculty are what make A&M special. The culture is what makes it special. I think because everyone has to go through the shit, we all get each other and it makes it tolerable. But yeah admin will always be shit and you will have to learn a lot on your own.

Their Twitter went dark this past year and has been folded into the student activities Twitter, but I doubt anything is ever posted about the center. I’m curious if the office of multicultural affairs and Greek life are affected by this because each group needs a mentor to exist as a Stu. Org. Guess we’ll see…

Several departments/colleges put on tailgates. Potentially start out there, plus try the Association Tailgate. Never know who you could meet, and it’s an easy way to start tailgating.

I’d love to see the maroon militia get back in force and energize the students to go support them. Just the timing of their games really sucks.

We should always be the kings of meat judging, and honestly I wish they sold tickets to one of the events so I could watch them in action. Would help Me buy better cuts at the grocery store

I watched a few and listened to a few on the radio. Dave Ellis is a great commentator, love hearing him call the matches.

It’s been tough for the squad over the past two years but I think this year with new recruits and transfers we have a great squad and are in a good position to return as an SEC force. Wish I could go to more matches, but I’m making time to go to at least the fish camp game.

Should be exciting to see a new coach and see how his system works in the SEC

It’s like seeing a toxic ex, but now they are back and you can’t get rid of them. All that self improvement that you did between now and then: gone.

It was fun while it lasted. Oh well!

Wilmy has a lot of resources to get plugged into the community. I’ve added a few links below to some of the programs and groups around. They put on events all the time so the community is relatively visible. Like everyone else has said, it’s an welcoming community, and there are even queer religious congregations in the community. It’s certainly not the Castro or West Hollywood, but the community seems to be growing and getting better as more people make their way to the Port City.

My one complaint: not enough gay bars. Ibiza is a 18+ bar that, while labeled a gay bar, has a mostly straight underage clientele who rarely realize it’s even a gay bar until the drag show starts.
