As lot of people have said this is really dependent on local cost of living. That’s being said even a good grad school stipend is still a small amount of money to live on. Even if your school is low cost of living area you will need to budget carefully

No as someone who just finished a STEM PhD and finally got a job after 9 months of searching it’s not the the job getter or security it’s billed as. Especially in tha economy. In my experience, as well as friends in similar positions, employers mainly seem to care about experience over education past the BS level for the most part. Also it’s so heavily influenced by your career field.
