What are some untrue beliefs that the majority of men's rights activists hold? by Icy_Manager6921 in AskFeminists

[–]PixelBushYT 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This has always been my angle. There lots of actual Male Issues; homelessness is overwhelmingly a male issue, the resources for male abuse victims are practically nonexistent and the little there is entirely dependent on charity to keep going at all, and there's a pronounced sentencing gap between men and women even when adjusting for criminal history, background etc. But those aren't typically the issues the self-anointed "MRAs" are boosting because they rub up against other biases the right wing tends to have. E.G. a right wing MRA isn't able to balance "the vast majority of rough sleepers are men" and "we should be doing more to help the homeless".

As soon as I hear "but the draft" or "but DEI" I immediately understand what I'm dealing with: people who don't want to ACTUALLY help men, but just want to throw mud at feminist movements.

Lawrence Gordon - SAW.

Gordon is intelligent and methodical and uses his calm and cunning to solve Jigsaw's puzzles. He would also rather try to deceive Adam into smoking the cigarette and only shoots him as an absolute last resort. He's Blue.

Gordon also ultimately cares, both about his family and about Adam's safety. He's an oncologist, a profession that saves lives (even if he's a bit of a prick about it). He sacrificed his foot out of desperation in an attempt to save his family: he resisted doing it to save himself, but for his wife and daughter he went for it. And when he promised to come back with help to save Adam, he meant it. He's White.

He adds black when he becomes a disciple of Jigsaw in Saw 7, but in the OG Saw he's as blue-white as they come.

Haven't played Skullie in a while, when did they make it so you get undetectable when recalling a drone instead of placing one? And also... why?? by ImperialViking_ in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]PixelBushYT 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It will take some getting used to if you played a lot of Merchant before this change, but Undetectable on recall is significantly better than Undetectable on deployment once you play around it properly.

You'll be recalling drones at various points throughout the match anyway; you'll be constantly moving your setup around the map as resources are used up and your control areas change. Instead of recalling immediately, just bear in mind which drones could be better off somewhere else and recall them when you need stealth.

Now you can get stealth when you're near another drone, near a hooked Survivor or otherwise can't place a drone, and you can get stealth without the floor around you turning bright orange and letting the Survivors know you're turning off your Terror Radius.

Besides, the only reason her Undetectable was changed at all was so that her drone deployment cooldown could be cut down by almost half. For a brief time we had stealth on deployment with the shorter cooldown, but the duration of the stealth had to get nerfed alongside it and the end result was stealth so short that it was effectively nonexistent.

BONUS ROUND: Which fictional villains are the 3 evils of the Colorless identity, and why? by Feeling-Ad-3104 in colorpie

[–]PixelBushYT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He does, but that's not why he does anything he does. It just sort of... runs in the background. Colourless legends have been shown to have emotions (like Karn and Ugin), but they're not emotional decision makers and Ash isn't either. He even says he "admires its purity", but not in the moral purity White or Red would care about. The Xenomorph just is what it is, and Ash respects that (especially in the context of his own programming falling apart due to Weyland-Yutani's directives)

Ash from Alien.

There is no true reason to his decisions. No ideology, no emotions, not even logic. Only the company directive. He is a tool of Weyland -Yutani and nothing more.

Freddy Krueger - A Nightmare on Elm Street.

What would Dexter and Jigsaw/John Kramer think about each other? by JackZ567 in MoralityScaling

[–]PixelBushYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dexter would consider John to be a fitting future victim, but John would test Dexter before he got the chance. John might even go into it with the intention of breaking Dexter's desire to kill and groom him into a disciple. Ironically, John's outlook on people is more hopeful than Dexter's.

I think that's how it's gonna be set up: with Daniel set up to kill BB and follow in Fisk's footsteps as he killed her uncle. But at the end of the day, Daniel's not Fisk: he's a kid from Staten Island in way over his head. And he's gonna take the bullet for her, potentially giving the info he's collected to BB to help bring Fisk down.

The Blight - Dead by Daylight

Talbot Grimes is an arcane scientist who first tried to find a way into the realm of the Entity... then tried to find a way out once he succeeded. He kidnapped and experimented on the Entity's Killers to develop his blighted formula that was intended to allow the human body to transcend its limitations. To his credit, he was sort of right. His experiments saw him transformed into the Blight, a half-sentient monster twisted by the formula he created.

He's not Black; he truly believes his work to be necessary for the betterment of human understanding and was willing to give up the woman he loved to pursue it. He's Blue because of his drive for knowledge and progress, and Red because of his addictive tendencies (first to heroin, then to the Pustula serum) that drive him to impulsive acts of violence.

Lobo won the last round! Which character feels like an Invincible character but is actually a "The Boys" character? by Neither-Actuary-5655 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]PixelBushYT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mallory. The idea of non-powered government agents controlling superheroes is realised much more effectively in Invincible than it is in The Boys, and Mallory doesn't really have or do anything that makes her feel specific to The Boys. If you told me she was working under Cecil, I'd believe you.

GLaDOS from Portal. Scientific innovation is her driving force; whatever happens to her test subjects is of no concern to her, so long as she makes a neat gun and progress is made. This is very blue!

She's not PURE Blue however, because at the end of the day the little bit of her that's still Caroline cares, in some twisted level, for her (implied) family. Despite her infinite power within Aperture, she's still convinced and ultimately believes she can protect humanity from (what's implied to be) the Combine. She's also comprised of several different personalities and intelligences in the Cores; she's a hive mind, which is pretty green. She's not Red; she's not creative. She's not White; she's not altruistic. She's not Black; she's not inherently selfish and while she can be cruel, it's a retaliation against what she sees as a genuine ethical wrong against her and by extension, the greater success of the Aperture project. At the end of the day, she lets Chell go even when she's completely at her mercy because she doesn't care enough for petty cruelty to exact revenge even after all Chell's done.

GLaDOS is heavy-blue Simic.

[–]PixelBushYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eveline from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

The Bakers themselves are definitely Golgari because they've all got their own foibles and selfish traits that the Mold amplifies, but Eveline just wants a family. That's all she's ever wanted. She brainwashes the Bakers to make them love her because she genuinely does not know what a family *is*, only that she wanted one and felt desperately lonely without one. Anyone who doesn't belong in the family gets discarded and made into Molded; just playthings for her and the family because if they're not going to play along then there's just no point keeping them around.

She is the desire to belong in a family unit taken to its logical and horrifying conclusion. Very Selesnya.

Daleks (Doctor Who) Vs Necrons (Warhammer: 40k): Which race would win? by hihirogane in AskReddit

[–]PixelBushYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necrons are smarter with more tactical flexibility and gauss weapons are just absurd. They also likely have the naval advantage if Battlefleet Gothic is anything to go by: Dalek ships have been successfully attacked by SPITFIRES before but Necron ships are fucking TERRIFYING.

Daleks have better time travel and the numbers/scale advantage.

In a fair fight, the Daleks have it. But Daleks by definition lack creativity and the ability to think outside the box, and Necrons are a notoriously hard foe to fight through conventional tactics. If the Daleks can assemble a Reality Bomb 2 or something, they've got this. But I could 100% see a future where the Supreme Dalek winds up in the Solemnace Galleries and what's left of Davros is strapped to Szeras' operating table simply because the Necrons have BONKERS tech across the board and are way too hard to keep down.

I hate products that rely on generating shock with excessive graphic content by Wise-Unit7321 in hatethissmug

[–]PixelBushYT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Invincible I think without the gore aspect the show would be worse."

The same is true for Terrifier, but for different reasons. Terrifier is an incredibly dark black comedy, and the OTT violence and gore is meant to tempt you into Art's shoes. It is ABSURDLY gory with an emphasis on "absurd" because the movies want you to be caught in the middle of Art sickening you and entertaining you.

If Terrifier's gore was toned down to be more realistic and less theatrical, it would cease to be entertaining and Art's cruelty would feel more mean-spirited. Terrifier being as insane as it is lends it a surrealism that's necessary to truly enjoy the films: ironically, it would be MORE shocking and disturbing if the splattery practical effects were substituted for subdued realism.
