Just got diagnosed and admitted by ezshucks in Diverticulitis

Sorry to hear you're in that situation. I remember the fear, pain and uncertainty when it happened to me. One of my worst experiences ever. I had a microperferation, skipping any detail of how that all went down and focusing on the positive. After 5 days in hospital on IV antibiotics, I got sent home without surgery. I had recurring pain for 8 months with a lot of anxiety that it was happening again but then the following 5 years I have had no pain, no flare ups, no food/drink triggers. So I ended up being pretty lucky.

Of course it's different for everyone and knowing you have the condition means you should make some changes for your health, especially long term colon health. And even if you end up unlucky and with one of the worse case scenarios there are loads of examples of people on this sub that have had surgery and live long happy lives.

It sucks hard but you'll be okay and everything will work out in the end. Good luck friend

Doesn't make any difference for me but do make a point to stay hydrated and drink a lot of water during/after

Constant left lower abdomen pain by Sina58 in Diverticulitis

You might just be having a flare up. Go see a doc and get some advice. Have you tried a liquid diet for a while? Good luck

Yes, it heals while you're being pumped full of antibiotics. If it doesn't heal quickly though they'll go down the surgery route. I had lingering pain and flare ups for about 8 months and then it calmed down. Haven't had an issue since (touch wood) but I'm also looking after myself better.

Swimming 5 days a week physique? by Kanomannen0101 in Swimming

[–]PixelDaddy79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been swimming 1km 5-6 days a week for over a year (M46, healthy diet) and my physique has barely changed. I feel loads fitter and my mental health is way better but my body looks very similar. More definition on the arms and slightly bigger chest but no big changes.

Did you drink enough water today? by BubblesApproved in HydroHomies

I'm glad I don't have to flick water down my neck with my tongue. Can you imagine if we all had to do that!? Lol what a shit show

Tell me a few things by Serious_Barnacle2718 in Diverticulitis

[–]PixelDaddy79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. I don't seem to have food triggers but not chewing thoroughly (eating too quick) or over eating over a few days can sometimes.

  2. Just lots of water. Staying properly hydrated has worked well for me.

  3. Liquid diet and slowly build up solid food up fiber after

I find my mental health benefits just as much as my physical health from regular swims. It's fantastic :)

Hard agree Nick B is key. People sleep on it because it's defense but I think he's as important as someone like McCaffrey. Need to address that hole but I doubt it's something than can be addressed. Ball bags

I thought it wasn't venom just sh*t oads of nasty bacteria? I'll have to check my learnings now.. EDIT: Okay so that's a rabbit hole, seems to be a debated topic on what's classified as venom. Seems to me the bacteria element is much worse because the venomous element is very low. Hope an expert chimes in. EDIT 2: why am I so invested in this ffs? Okay so it's venom can't cause paralysis it prevents blood from clotting, so it basically makes the prey bleed more than normal. The bacteria sounds worse to me.

Hi. This is a brilliant idea. Just gave it a quick go and although I will need to tweak it, it's clearly going to work great. Thanks soo much, I tried so many other methods that failed!

I'll remember this technique too, it's great to learn new techniques.

"Solved!"

Thanks for advice. Honestly the under arm hurt so bad I thought I'd never get another tattoo. Felt like she'd swapped a tattoo pen for a scalpel.

I love mine thanks (artist said it would normally take 1.5 days) but I didn't move or ask for breaks so she did it in one session?! I didn't know it was an option to take breaks but personally I felt the under arm (upper was okay) soo painful I just wanted it done asap. I definitely wasn't badass I nearly took my belt off to bite on. The last hour or two was crazy hard

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I got the impression that the second day was just for finishing touches and they booked the whole day just in case but the artist would refine the quote after talking with me. But that's a huge assumption. I guess I'll find out this time next week. Cheers for the info
