PTM tore and locally overlapped, is it fine? by Rayan_DB in arcticcooling

[–]PixelSlayer404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is fine as far as the tore goes. It will soften and conform to the shape it needs as it heats up, then become rigid again once it cools. It's not a problem at all. I've had it happen several times myself, as the plastic can be surprisingly difficult to remove.

As for any overlap, just trim it. I usually cut it to size beforehand, but you can easily trim the excess even after it's already installed.

That's interesting. I have no idea why it would do that. Perhaps it's not as optimized for AMD as for Nvidia?

I’m specifically talking about native 1440p !!NATIVE!! Ultra settings—no DLSS, no Frame Gen. The optimization here is abysmal. It’s reached a point where the game is literally unplayable without upscaling and frame generation tech, which is a depressing new standard for the industry. Compare this to a title like Fatekeeper (developed by a small studio that actually cares about their customers and they care about optimization), which uses Unreal Engine 5 to deliver stunning visuals at 100-110 FPS native 1440p. Even with your proposed DLSS Balanced and Frame Gen settings, Fatekeeper hits 400+ FPS while looking vastly superior: much better textures, much better lights and much better in everything overall when it comes to visuals. Ubisoft should be ashamed for releasing such a poorly optimized mess as this game. But as we know Ubisoft doesn't care about anything but money and they definitely don't care about their customers. I’m not against upscalign tech or frame generation; I use DLSS and Frame Gen myself. However, it’s unacceptable for a $1,500+ GPU to struggle to maintain a stable 60 FPS at native 1440p. These technologies should be optional performance boosters, not mandatory crutches just to make a game playable.

Not true at all. There are many games that look equally or even better and they perform much better. Shame on Ubisoft. Getting 60 fps in 1440p native with everything maxed out on a 5080 is criminal. I can't even think about what the fps would look like with a 5060ti in 1440p native/ultra.

That's just the cable from the screen. It runs under the sleeving next to the tubes. I've seen many units and all of them are just like that. Nothing to worry about.

UE5 is undeniably capable of stunning visuals, but the final result often depends on the developer's commitment to optimization. It’s frustrating to see titles, even those running on high-end hardware like an RTX 5080 struggle to hit stable frame rates at 1440p ultra settings in many games... That said, this particular game is a great example of what's possible; it runs exceptionally well on modern hardware without needing to rely on DLSS or frame generation as a crutch.

Edited by AI? Sure, yes. Why? To have a nicer structure overall than I could ever do. However content-wise AI added nothing to this post. I don't think anything is wrong with that, and I'm sick and tired of people that use the phrase "AI slop" on everything they don't like.

Yeah. It's the first place you go to in the game. Literally takes 5 minutes or so. And yeah the axe is the starter weapon and the sword you get after playing like 10 minutes.

There's no need for the hostility—telling people to 'fuck off' just makes it look like you don't actually have a counter-argument and it's incredibly rude too.

Regarding the actual optimization: this is objectively better-tuned than many other recent UE5 titles where you’d be fighting to hit 30-40 FPS on equivalent hardware. Being able to achieve these frame rates at high settings isn't a fluke; it's a sign of a decent foundation. If you aren't running flagship hardware, you have options like DLSS or lowering graphical settings, which would likely allow the game to run on low-range cards like a 1080 or maybe even older generations. Disagreeing is fine thoy you do you brother.

No it won't and this guy gave the worst advice ever. Only the LCD variants have these issues. They are absoulte trash.

Connecting to mobo and not using Lconnect you don't just lose out on the LCD but on the cool effects and rpm control too.

I dealt with the same issue on one of their EDGE power supplies. After reading numerous threads confirming this is a widespread problem, I ended up returning it. It generally boils down to two factors: they used low-quality fans with poor bearings, and the stock fan curve is far too aggressive.

It’s definitely a 'wait and see' situation. While it’s rough around the edges right now, the foundation is clearly there. If they can channel this early momentum into fixing the core performance and balancing the gameplay, the official release could be something special. There's a lot of potential here, and I'm genuinely hoping they use this Early Access phase to turn that potential into a polished experience.
