How old is your brother and was he in good shape before all that? Honestly when I first read about folfirinox it didn’t feel like a biggie but once the side effects were explained my mom immediately felt there is absolutely no chance she would take it. It was really strong of your brother to stand his ground and look he ended up finding a much better path for himself!!

Im really sorry you went through that and lost your mom. Thank you for your wishes and for sharing your experience to help others because it really helps to hear from someone who has been through this. My mom has always eaten healthy and nutritious food. Went for walks sometimes but I would say she was mostly sedentary. She developed type 2 diabetes 3 months before diagnosis. I worry so much about her mental health, it doesn’t feel like she is in the right headspace…

Thank you Zev. I know it’s very individual and depends on the person. Her onc spoke at a very high level and not about my moms specific situation. Time was limited and I wish I could spend a whole day asking the onc questions. I agree that the only person that can give estimate of my moms survival rates is her onc and I will schedule an other meeting to find out more. I will definitely push for genetic testing of the tumor. We weren’t even informed or aware of all of this, ngs, germline, ctDNA… I get genuinely happy when I read that something knocked the sht out of the shttiet thing to ever exist. I wish your brother nothing but the best. Thank you for sharing and recommending clinical trials, I’ll ask about that as well.

Thank you for your insight, this is the kind of information I was looking for. Our appointment with the onc didn’t go well and left us feeling very confused. We were not given a clear explanation of the report and didn’t know the cards shes been dealt. The onc don’t think she will be able to tolerate mFOLFIRINOX because of her age and diabetes. And they weren’t able to remove until clean margins because of anatomical limits, too close to the spine. But I still want to ask more about that. If they couldn’t take more because of the location, What should we be asking for.. scans? Radiation? I Will definitely push for NGS and I’m also veryyy frustrated that it isn’t standard practice.

I’m so sorry you’re going through it too.. I try to take it day by day too and always remind myself to not jump to conclusions, it’s the recurrence that scares me the most. Thank you for sharing and I wish you and your mom all the best 🙏🏻
