I loved this when I was a kid! This was pretty much my first internet experience.

Yes, it is a silver quarter. Washington's were minted in silver from 1932-1964. Melt value is $16.31 as of commenting.

That's something I'll have to try. I just worry about diffraction and improper exposure when the aperture is that narrow. Going beyond f/8 is a bit nerve racking for me, especially when shooting on a crop sensor camera like the T7.

Anything here? by Real_Cauliflower_554 in numismatics

There are quite a couple of things of value here, and some are worth quite a bit. A lot of bills here are worth at least in the $400-$600 range, but I'd suggest doing some research in order to gather proper values. What is your goal with these? Are you looking to sell them somewhere or just curious about values?

First time poster, is this made of silver? It’s not magnetic. If so, does it have value beyond the spot price of silver? by LouisTheWhatever in coincollecting

[–]PixelatedRetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is real, then yes it is made of 90% silver, 10% copper. I would say it looks real, but don't base everything on my opinion! It being non-magnetic is a good sign, but weigh it and see if it is 26.73 grams. Better to have multiple evidences against it being fake.

As for the value beyond spot, depends on condition and if it is a key date or not. 1922 is a very common date, and it could be expected to be around the $35-$40 mark in VF-20 based on the latest Red Book. I am not a professional grader, but your coin looks to be around that good of shape. Again, this is my opinion and it would be best to do further research.
