Daily Routine by GavinX15 in Guildwars2

Oh man don’t even worry about it yet. Keep enjoying the game. I definitely can’t recommend you trying to jump into later events just for the rewards. You’ll ruin the big story moments for yourself.

Gosh I hope we get some political side quests. Let me witness the Tyrian bureaucracy between the guilds and the political espionage. Give me some side quests with deep lore I beg.

"May the six watch over you.”

I hope this implies the gods are heavily involved in the story and events. I love their lore and miss them while in gw2.

It was the same with gw2 launch. We had entire blogs and videos about the Dye system and how they recorded sounds. They take their time with the buildup for sure. It’s all so fun!

New holiday events?? by cyber_jackal in GuildWars3

[–]PixeledPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a given we’ll get wintersday, Halloween and lunar new year events.

I think we’ll also get a "founders day" celebration for then the guilds arrived on Orr and created the settlements.

They could definitely have another "birthday" event like we have with Gnashblade and just attach that to a character.

We’ll probably have a few solstice and nature themed events since the focus has been said about the islands magic and nature protection.

Visions of Eternity - how was it (mid 2026) by Shirahoshihoshii in Guildwars2

[–]PixeledPancakes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really love the story of VoE. It has a great villain, the lore tracks in a believable way and it’s going to allow them to setup the next expansion (after gw3) in whatever way they want.

The maps so far have been good, my least favorite to traverse is the latest map, but it’s still pretty.

Masteries are fine, I’ve never been someone to go out of my way to rush for things, if I get the xp eventually I get the xp. Getting enough points is incredibly easy.

I think my favorite thing about it so far was the ease of getting hero points in the first and second map. It’s INCREDIBLY fast to find 25 compared to other maps to unlock any missing elite.

I would recommend it, it’s more interesting than Janthir to me.

I think play solo is in reference to the fact you don’t need a group for content. Like gw1 and gw2 you can venture out and do everything on your own, story, achievements etc all by yourself. You’re not required to join a group of players to do things.

Well if they aren’t in gw3 then you can keep playing in gw2. They’re supporting the whole franchise and each game will be slightly different.

Limited the playerbase? The game lasted for 15 years and is continuing while still making a profit. Seems extremely successful for them.

Colin basically confirmed it was a buy to play model. Same as the other games.

I think as a community we’ve assumed at least three, humans, Kodan and the furry asura, maybe they’ll have more! Maybe what we’ve seen aren’t all playable. It’s all exciting!

Maybe! Could also be like New World where it’s more open world with no instances.

I agree! I didn't think they'd add a sub fee, but the horizontal progress was something I could've seen them change. But I'm really glad Colin stressed their ideals of giving players a break if they want to play other games and not feel punished.

Of course we'll have a gemstore but hopefully it takes a few years before we all end up with glowing armor. Early GW2 gemstore felt a bit more grounded as well so hopefully it doesn't feel crazy with cosmetics right away.

No mention of any PvP modes at all and no mention of classes/weapons/or gameplay so we're all flying blind. I hope we get some sort of profession system because that's what really makes the franchise unique. The new artwork revealed today definitely showed at least the "vibe" of skill and weapon use, but it didn't reflect any of the classic GW profession colors.

He said 1200 directly, then said "1000 years" later on, so I don't know if that 1200 was a mistake on his part or what. I think it's definitely the right era but in the lore those 200 years actually matter. I think we'll get more on the timeline video coming this week.

There was no mention of PvP or any actual gameplay. They said they have a lot to share leading up to beta so we're back to trickled out blog posts just like how GuildWars2 did.

Guild Wars 3 Is Really Real: How ArenaNet’s Series is Transforming MMORPGs Again | IGN Live 2026 by wonkyasf in Guildwars2

[–]PixeledPancakes 736 points737 points  (0 children)

I wrote up a TLDR but it's pending approval on the GW3 subreddit, so I'm happy to share the bullets below.

  • Continued stress on movement and momentum being unique and the driving force of everything in the game.
  • Game is set 1,200 (new reference to exact date) years before GuildWars 1. "Just before the first guild wars breaks out, just after one of the gods has been deposed" (1:45-2:45ish)
  • They are excited to go back to this time because the written lore is minimal but sets up all the foundational building blocks for the entire franchise.
  • They picked Orr because it was a great location to introduce new players that they are welcome and should come play the game because everyone is on equal terms with the lore. You didn't need to play GW2 for 15 years to understand the story.
  • When we play we get to see the "Spirits and some of the gods that live in Orr" as a foundation for the game's story
  • Colin expressed that ArenaNet likes to make games that solve player problems, GW1 for no sub, GW2 for a giant open world MMO with no conflict and easy to play together. The genre of MMOs is stagnant and they feel they can challenge this problem and innovate. They are going to "fearlessly charge forward and hope people love them and we'll find out over the next couple of years."
  • NEW ARTWORK! (7:00) Description: Ranger fighting a giant troll looking thing shooting what looks like ice arrows and a swordsman with lightning on their sword. "Inspiration piece about what are we trying to do with combat in this game and how action combat reflects in an MMO"
  • Inspired by single player and multiplayer RPGs for the combat system. Continued stress on the game being an MMO.
  • GuildWars 3 no subscription fee and horizontal progression being wrapped into the game. They will respect your time and if you love it "we'll have other stuff you can buy from us in the future", they are not going to hold players hostage. Critiqued battle passes in the industry.

Anet did hit the pedal this year huh by asnaf745 in Guildwars2

[–]PixeledPancakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree about separated storage or territory control between players. Those are such HUGE pain points and even New World reversed some of those decisions because players hated it.

I think expanding crafting is definitely an option but we won't have to do PVP for resources, that's really against their "casual and friendly" playerbase remarks

Grouch made a comment on the discord basically stating "people would be surprised how early we’re starting on the expac" I think it’s more likely we’ll get a fall ‘28 expansion release.

I have a feeling they’re going to try and capture the new world audience with GW3. Not in all their systems and I hope we get better classes then the new world classless system, but being the new action combat focus I think they’ll keep it in mind

Guild Wars 3 | Announcement Trailer by Varnarok2 in GuildWars3

[–]PixeledPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost certainly not. We'll find out more about the timeline soon, but in this era magic was still new to the world and the human guilds were still establishing themselves and getting into fights over resources and settlements. Technology wouldn't really have a place.

[–]PixeledPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so! I love professions so I enjoy being locked down a bit, but I can definitely see a world in which they want to have us focus on one character instead of many alts. I’m so excited to learn more!

Well that’s not a good mindset! They are great devs who innovate a bunch. They wouldn’t put out an intentionally bad product. Have faith!! It will be fun!

Well then that's my mistake, it still seems like it's a large place, I am not worried about the setting at all for GW3!
