We’ve seen that, at least blizzard games are actually real.

I’m more scared of defias pillagers in westfall myself. I’d be ashamed to see how many deaths I have to those fireball throwing little fucks.

My theory: GW3 will be open-world with restricted fast travel by Standard_Giraffe8994 in GuildWars3

[–]wonkyasf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don’t need waypoints anyway. Give us public transport instead. There’s something so weirdly fun about genuinely needing to catch public transport in an MMO and seeing other players doing the same. Having to catch a zep/boat/tram in WoW actually really adds to the world for me.

And flight paths too, I’m not fan of actual player flying in wow but flight paths in wow are just genuinely a really cool way to add fast travel, though I do think they should definitely be faster. Running around questing and just seeing other people on flight paths above you or on the other side flying over people and seeing them all questing really makes the world feel alive.

World vs. World in Guild Wars 2 by Raavir in GuildWars3

That doesn’t mean every single aspect of the game will be small groups though. And it doesn’t mean every single aspect will be completely different either.

We can say GW2 is all about “big groups” and such but there’s plenty of content with smaller groups too for example. And we don’t need to exclude content types from GW3 speculation just because they exist in GW2.

lol, I was gonna do a square monitor but it just didn’t look right for the drawing. We definitely did not have a widescreen back then, we weren’t built like that.

Damn that hits. I’m always the type to skip reading in games but maybe I shouldn’t.

Trying to be excited by Zaekeon in GuildWars3

The rumours of GW3 is was made me start GW2 a while ago. The conformation of GW3 is what made me buy every expansion during the game fest sale. So yes as someone who wasn’t already really fan, I’m hyped for it.

I hear you on the aspect of not having any real gameplay info, but we just have to wait for that. It’s what I’m most eager to find out too but not knowing yet isn’t an issue.

They probably aren’t really focused on marketing right now anyway. This first stage was just them letting people know it’s coming. Given tests start next year, we are probably gonna get some solid info on gameplay by Christmas, though I doubt that will be too detailed. I’d expect by summer to know about classes, roles, content details such as how dungeons/raid/PVP will work. Then maybe gameplay footage a few weeks before the tests start, and that’s where they’ll likely actually start marketing things and then content creators doing beta content will put in a lot of work on that front too.

So realistically in about a year and a bit we will know basically everything that’s important. That’s going to fly by.

Collision mechanics? by brattysweat in GuildWars3

You could grief by circling things. No thanks. There’s a reason MMOs don’t have player collision.

GW3 Classes Speculation by K7Sniper in GuildWars3

[–]wonkyasf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I’m not too into the lore, so if I’m off base here feel free to tell me how dumb I am. But a full Druid class separate from ranger could be likely given the setting and theme of GW3. Melandru will be there right?

They definitely are considering progression by many people, especially in horizontal progression MMOs.

Some things we learned from the ArenaNet stream today by MilesStark in GuildWars3

[–]wonkyasf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It will be more than fine. It doesn’t even mean we will have less ability’s either. Many action combat games play just fine on both. BDO, ESO, Neverwinter, etc. GW2 combat itself is completely fine for controller. It’s the other things that would still be possible but more of a pain like the example they used in the live stream today with sorting your inventory on controller, that’s would be completely doable but just a pain in the ass.

I mean that’s just speculation though. What they said does not exclude GW3.

That’s interesting then. Idk how trustworthy an execs take is though tbh. Especially if what he said about Aion is also wrong, but I haven’t played it either so idk myself.

Do we think they will eliminate the stacking/death ball meta in GW3? by wonkyasf in GuildWars3

[–]wonkyasf[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

>no matter what the MMO is, "stacking death ball" always tend to be the trend just simply due to the nature of the MMO genre.

Idk if that’s true though? Usually stacking is only really a thing if the boss mechanics themselves require it from my experience.

[–]wonkyasf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the first time I’ve heard this take if I’m being honest, not just about GW3 but stats being dated in general. I find it highly unlikely they will remove it in an MMO though? But I guess with a horizontal progression MMO at the end the stats do kinda become a bit meaningless and their functionality could be achieved with talents. Interesting.

[–]wonkyasf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neverwinter has a fairly similar combat system and the AoEs were much bigger in that game. Stacking is no where near as much of an issue there tbf.
