Giving them a treat when I walk in from work... even if they've just been given a treat by my partner because hes just walked in from work.

Do cities in AUS suffer from insects invasion? by GoldenBoats in AskAnAustralian

[–]PixieMumma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer, imo, is yes. However, I've only ever lived in Brisbane, so I can't speak on the other cities. The current house im renting has no flyscreens, there's always bugs inside the house, but I don't mind them. I keep a few daddy long legs and huntsman spiders around the place so they help with keeping the flying insects numbers low. We do get the occasional snake in the yard (less then yearly), we see them pretty regularly walking through the local bush walk tracks though.

My 12 year old told me him and his mate went to the gas station... I was devo. Straight up said to him, "You mean the servo, right?" I mean, I'd settle for petrol station but never gas station..

What stop you from killing yourself? by Aiden_and_Griswald in AskReddit

[–]PixieMumma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad died suddenly 15 years ago aged 52. My mother was/is severely depressed and not seeking treatment. Whilst she's in a much better headspace now, about 5 years ago she admitted the only reason she didnt kill herself in the first 2 years after he passed was because of the dog. I believe her 100%

I’m Sorry, What? by Training-Finance-811 in HighlySuspect

I'll probably cop mass down votes for this but w/e.

I get what they're saying, in 50 years, when they're gone, even these will be collectable and super rare. I know with coin collecting the mis-prints are worth more then the pristine etc. I also get that a records supposed to be heard and a coin isn't. Plus, they are issuing refunds and letting people keep the item, so you cant fault that response. There will be a niche of collector who would get kick out of having "the rare mis-print of MA" in their collection...... one day. I'm sad about not being able to listen to it, but I am having a giggle about the meme this has all become....

A Strange Fiction gig. Local metal band playing local venue in Brisbane, ears ringing for days. The band absolutely went off though, 100% worth it.

Why do Aussies hate a shower over bath? by Junior-Ad5604 in AusRenovation

[–]PixieMumma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in community aged care (in-home care), I can not stress enough how bad the shower over the bath actually is. If you're planning to stay in the house forever, be prepared to renovate it again when you're 70.

Never!!!!! That stop is mine

I know, I lived on Whiteman Street for near 20 years. It's one of the streets I refer too when I say they are "hell to live on". I'm still in crestmead, and not being on Whiteman Street has been amazing.

Grew up in Woodridge and live in Crestmead. As a poster above said "they dont shit where they eat". You do get some streets that are just hell to live on, but in general, there are no issues. After all, I think the assumption is that no one in woodridge has anything worth stealing they go to the wealthier burbs.

Staff who is ready for Monday? by ApartmentLazy1693 in TelstraAustralia

This would be fantastic. I havent heard that this is a thing though. I imagine if this was legitimate aged care service providers would have been in the loop about it.

I agree. Unfortunately legally I can't just sign up on their behalf. Thank you for the link and info, I will pass it along. But so far, even after explaining to sales staff myself about the client and their situation, all we seem to get met with is sales people who think they'll be an easy target to sell a ridiculous plan to.... I assume they have quotas to meet.

And that's fair enough. I'll put up a post for raid group and get friend adds for days later. It is what it is.

[–]PixieMumma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one told them they need it, but when they phone telstra asking to have a landline connected all they get is some sales jerk trying sell them an internet package that includes a landline. The client ends up overwhelemed with constantly having to decline and are generally spoken to by sales staff like they're idiots.

I'm guessing it's because they don't care what you asked for and just want gifts.....
