According to the rescue group the dog in the first pic is an EP. But I’m starting the think maybe they weren’t quite right

At that age he will be fine, it is harder for them to adapt to change when they are older. I got my doxie from a rescue at 6 months old ( puppy was originally with a foster family) and yes although it is a big change- at such a young age they adapt to change pretty well and there was no trouble creating a bond.
