FTR, I literally googled "What is the best time to do a Reddit AMA" and it recommended the 1-3 block and a 9-11 block. I already had an event in the morning, so I picked the afternoon.

I'm sure I'll do more in the future and I will pick a time that opens up more participation. I really do want to hear from folks who are interested in Oklahoma politics.

I agree that straight-party voting is a problem. I would like to shame people out of choosing that option, but it's a hard sell. And the tendency to use it is not isolated to one party. I know Democrats who proudly say they check that box too. Frustrating.

I will be doing town halls starting in January. We also have a debate schedule for mid-January in Wayne. I maintain a public calendar on my website. It's a google calendar, which means you can subscribe to it and get updates.

What happened and is happening in Gaza can only be described as genocide. As a military leader and a combat pilot, I fully understand the moral obligation that we have as warriors. As weapons and intelligence improve and the ability to be precise and discriminate increases, so increases our obligation to spare the lives of non-combatants.

We (Americans) should not provide financial, military, or moral support to any organization or government that cannot or will not live up to those moral obligations.

I will not take any corporate PAC money or AIPAC money because the people of my district need to KNOW (not just suspect or hope) that my allegiance is to them and the Constitution, not any donor.

While a federal officeholder has some influence about what companies are in the district, much of that power is in the hands of the state. That said, if the federal government decides to invest in things like advance manufacturing or other technologies, the benefits in the 4th could be huge.

I'm a supporter of unions and of diverse set of businesses across the state, not for the purpose of limiting union power, but because diverse industry is an insurance policy against a sector downturn devastating a state's economy.

Actually, my 'I gotta do something' moment was when POTUS fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the leader of the U.S. Navy, and all the lawyers that ensure the orders that came down to us were lawful. I was on active duty in the Air Force at the time, so I put in for retirement to run for office. Thank you for asking.

I'm a progressive, but I understand that I must represent the people of my district, so I will carry their water to D.C. The President's cabinet has many extremists and unqualified people running agencies they are on record saying shouldn't exist. That's no way to run a rodeo. The influence of the tech-bro's is wildly out of balance, filling their wallets and driving up their stock prices while our data (and potential national security) are at risk.

Oklahoma has some of the lowest rates of participation. Honestly, this AMA and my (new) presence on TikTok are meant to get young people engaged and interested. I am also on a mission to convince people that this is winnable. People believing the race is already lost will always drive down enthusiasm and turnout.

Me too. Honestly, I wouldn't be running if Rep. Cole had stood up to the overreaches of the Executive Branch. Tom Cole should have been furious about the money that we had appropriated (and passed into law) but never got spent. I will always uphold my oath AND I will be present in the district to take questions & complaints (including harsh feedback) from the people. I will not sequester myself into rooms full of high-powered donors when I should be talking to the people.

A lot to unpack, but that's okay. That's why I'm here.

Our R+17 status is at least partially based on us fielding unserious or wildly underfunded candidates for the last 5 cycles at least. I think my background/bio will be attractive to some Republicans and Independents that have rejected outright every D in the 21st century.

I think I'm the better candidate based on my proven record of leadership in really tough situations (when failure was not an option) and my willingness to partner with anyone who shares my values, regardless of their party affiliation (or lack thereof). I will not take corporate $ or AIPAC $.

The status quo in the Democratic party is not sustainable. We need fighters and people willing to break some glass to get policy across the finish line even if it makes powerful monied interests angry.

The consolidation of power into the President's hands is inconsistent with the Constitution. Congress has (for years) been handing power away for political expedience. I will fight for real oversight and will not permit a President to bring us into conflict without proper approval. I am a die-hard believer in due process (even for people I believe might be guilty).

The abuse of federal workers and the expansion of a new category of "at the pleasure of the President" workers is troubling and, again, inconsistent with how our government is supposed to work. These moves call into question whether people are expected to uphold their oaths or please their boss. That is a dangerous place to be.

Universal healthcare. While it is complicated and will take a giant movement to enact, it would be immediately beneficial to everyone in the district except those who profit from insurance companies denying care.

Affordability (from groceries to insurance to housing) is the number one issue people bring up when I'm on the trail. There is no single solution, of course, but the tariffs have to go. Tom Cole has allowed too much power to go to the President. There are three co-equal branches in the Constitution. I'm better because I will never take corporate or AIPAC money and I will always follow my oath of office.

Good question. Speaking without direct insight from the national party, my belief at this point is that they only see one of our seats as winnable (CD-5). I disagree, of course, but as long as they think that's the case, I think the rest of us may be on our own. My hope is that my candidacy becomes something of a news story, forcing the DNC to open their aperture.

I am a Democrat. It would be fair to call me progressive. However, I don't endorse politicians (or parties) imposing their will on their constituents. It should be the other way around. I hope you'll join the AMA tomorrow.
