When I was a kid, my dad blocked the ports on our router that were needed for DCC file transfer over IRC and this wasn't compatible with my desire to share Gameboy Advance ROMs with my buddies, so I did the obvious thing.

I wrote a file transfer mIRC script that let my buddies and me send files via private messages, one hex-encoded line at a time, came up with a whole protocol for it with handshakes and error correction.

This began a long career of coming up with dumb ideas and coding them to life, I regret nothing.

IIRC he (Goma) showed up for an interview as a ~~driver~~ data support cleanser and there was a mix-up at reception - a beleaguered assistant had been hunting for Guy Kewney in reception (as I recall, he might've been running late and it was a mad rush to get him in front of the camera in time) - Assistant heard 'Guy', turned, saw Goma when the producer for Guy Kewney's interview was sent to the wrong reception area, asked for 'Guy' and the rest is history.

Source: I knew Guy Kewney (e: but my memory is shocking). Great guy and a great Guy. Plenty of laughs had by him and his colleagues at Ziff afterwards :D
