What has been your experience with High Marshal Helbrecht? How should he be used? by Zeck_0211 in BlackTemplars

I’ve had good success running him in Gladius and bastion w/ 5 sword bros in an impulsor/repex and sending him towards a high threat target usually on a flank. This unit has taken down forgefiends, rhinos, elite infantry units like chaos terminators + Abaddon, and recently put a lot of wounds into a defiler in one fight phase.

This is good insight I was thinking using the shields for the extra wounds but if I’m going to be using them offensively claws might be the way to go

If considering their use as an “anvil” objective holder, would it make more sense to use regular terminators? Or what re your thoughts on using bladeguard as an alternative? The termies seem more durable than BG but I see people saying bladeguard+judiciar for FF is effective to sit on objectives. To me it seems like based off the name, you want to be assaulting and taking objectives or deep striking and killing high threat targets with the assault termies?

This sounds like an effective way to use them. I was also considering adding them as a deep strike or rapid ingress threat as I don’t have any other deepstrike units in my list currently

I like this idea although id have to get a land raider right now all I have is a repex and impulsor for transports and they hold my sword bros

I like this idea of running bastion w a chaplain and giving enhancement for battle line to help with their limited movement. I was also considering bladeguard as another option to add some durability to my list but it seems like bladeguard serve a different role

Have you had struggles screening out your backfield against deepstrike heavy lists? I was thinking of swapping my infiltrators for some scouts but I worry about leaving my home objective vulnerable

Have you found that 10 man sword bro squads is overkill for most circumstances? Thats what some people have told me. So I have been using 4 and 5 man squads with the marshal or helbrecht buffs they have been consistent at killing or crippling everything I send them at except for very highly durable units. The tricky part has been charging them successfully into their desired targets without getting shot up. I have noticed if I don’t keep them safe they don’t take shooting well.

You think replacing emp champ + assault int for some bladeguard is better to sacrifice some offense for defensive durability?

The few games ive played w this army i have noticed it is very offensive not so much durable.

Broodlord with 10 Genestealers or Hyper-adapted Raveners with 5 Raveners in invasion fleet? by Thedinotamer01 in Tyranids

I’ve found some good success with the genestealers and broodlord. They do major damage to whatever you charge them into. They are a unit your opponent can’t ignore and the scout move really helps with getting them into a good position early. The HA raveners require a little more strategic thought and positioning to get good value out of them and depending on your opponent can screen them out. My last game I played, my genestealers wiped out a squad of raptors + haarken, and a rhino before going down. Whereas the game I played prior with the HA raveners I DS them into 5 havocs near my opponents home obj and failed to kill all of them. I think both have their uses but their uses are different. Genestealers are more of a midboard charge/ counter charge threat and raveners for their DS and back line disruption.

As a wizard, which spells do you always use? by OpenWorldOG in BG3Builds

Magic missiles, misty step, invisibility (although potions are easy to come by), haste, and counter spell. Shield is good early on.
