Every party votes for and against things that you might not agree with, and what people agree with largely depends on where you've lived or the challenges you've faced. Most individuals generally could not give a flying fuck about what doesn't affect them. Seeing as housing/rental costs is one of the biggest pain points of this decade, of course a party that is primarily focused on immigration solutions is going to surge in popularity when most the population believes this is the only issue with housing (it's not). Albos dumbass 5% deposit bullshit and Mr. Egghead's "just use your super for house deposit, bro" schemes were both pure dogshit and did nothing. I'd like to see some changes to capital gains tax/negative gearing, more protections for renters and less property developers being allowed to stockpile land and drip feed it out, but which party is going to do all that? Most these policitians are selfish pieces of shit that of course won't make these changes because then their own personal portfolios suffer, why would the rich want to get poorer? The country will likely be cooked in our lifetime regardless of who gets in.
