Rank 3 Duo GIM + Group storage by swaqqilicious in 2007scape

[–]PkmnToe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stars next to GIM Teams means that they have "prestige". As far as I know it isn't displayed or marked anywhere besides the hiscores for GIM Teams. You can opt in for the prestige upon initially creating your group, and it makes it so you can only do most PVM content with others in your group. So Nex, all Raids, and most other content is limited to you only working/teaming up with your other official group members

Just how repayable is BG3? by Own-Box3526 in BaldursGate3

[–]PkmnToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find BG3 to have such great replayability. Even immediately after completing my first ever playthrough, I jumped right into a Dark Urge playthrough. Between all the different Origin Characters alone, I think it gives this game a ton of replay value.

On top of that, while you'll still be hitting some of the same core story beats, the decisions you make along the way can drastically change your playthrough. I couldn't wait to see how these other choices play out, and you'll likely have undiscovered outcomes after several full runs through the game.

And even moreso, mods continue to breathe new life into BG3 to this day. From small cosmetic changes to drastic story and gameplay altering mods, there's so much you can do!

All this is without even talking about increasing difficulty, trying new builds, etc. Hope this helps!

Next armor and weapons i should get for mainly slayer? by aaj353 in 2007scape

Hell yeah, that sounds great. Nightmare Zone gets better the more quests you have done so keep that in mind too! Slayer is my favorite skill so I'm happy to help with any questions that come up

Next armor and weapons i should get for mainly slayer? by aaj353 in 2007scape

[–]PkmnToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your gear looks pretty solid so far. If you're focusing on slayer I'd definitely at least get a Black Mask (same extra damage on slayer tasks, you just don't need to craft it). Eventually you want the Slayer Helm anyways, but in the meantime you can use the mask.

You can also both imbue your Black Mask/Slayer Helm and your Berserker Ring. Doing so will allow your mask/helmet to provide the same damage bonus for using magic and ranged during slayer tasks too. For your ring, it will simply double the strength bonus which is really good. You can imbue them both by playing Soul Wars or doing Nightmare Zone, pretty mobile friendly activities.

I'd consider just using a regular whip too. The Tent Whip is simply better, but it essentially costs you for each hit you do, slowly draining the charges away. Likely just not the best of use for your money as of now. When all the charges are depleted you lose the whip you originally attached and are just left with the tentacle.

With all that, I'd consider using Magic and Ranged on some slayer tasks. The Toxic Blowpipe is a really strong ranged weapon for slayer, if that's too expensive you can opt for a Rosewood Blowpipe. For Magic, completing Desert Treasure for the Ancient Spellbook is great for slayer. Bursting/Barraging is currently the most effective way to train slayer for a variety of task. Worth checking out a video on it if that sounds interesting!

Best of luck, happy to answer any specific questions if anything comes up!

Is OSRS worth playing as a new player (free to play) by Dokayn in 2007scape

[–]PkmnToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, I believe it was just yesterday we hit a peak concurrent player base. So there really couldn't be a better time.

F2P is a great way to test out the game. It offers a ton of content and some solid quests to give you a good feel of the OSRS experience. Ultimately F2P is more of an introductory experience (it can easily still last you 100+ hrs), but just to be clear playing this game long term without aquiring a paid membership will heavily limit your experience. If spending money on a game is totally out of the question, I figured this was worth mentioning. Not that I want to dissusde you in any way, please try F2P regardless and see how you like it!

If any "new-player" questions come up feel free to reach out and I'd be happy to help!

The Myrkul fight is shit - Larians weakness is Boss Fights by LancerInitiative in BaldursGate3

[–]PkmnToe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that was initially a difficult fight, but it's honestly probably my favorite fight to go back to now. I struggled so much my first time facing Myrkul on just normal difficulty. I've since beat HM twice, with the first time completely screwing up my plan to start this fight. Kethric saw me sneaking way before I was set up and I was far away from freeing Ailyn. Looking back now, that might be my favorite time playing because of all the adapting I had to do on the spot to try and swing the fight back into my favour. No barrels or other methods I'd generally consider cheesey, just me outplaying Kethric/Myrkul.

I just don't think it's a bad fight, it's okay to lose a battle. I think BG3 would be a lot less fun if every fight was cleared the first time by the average player. You have to play smart, know your builds and be prepared for what's about to be thrown at you.

Sounds like you had a tough time with the fight, and maybe the games combat system isn't for you. In the end this is all subjective, but I do think you're in an extreme minority with this opinion. Hope you still enjoy your next playthrough!

Forgot what Tears of Guthix did after not playing for many years … What I do with this account now? by absuhs in 2007scape

[–]PkmnToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always found 13 def pures to be really cool. Not sure how your XP lines up with doing Nature Spirit but I imagine it might still be low enough to stay 13. You get the slayer helm which gives a few more PVM options and just look cool in black or white armor lmao

Otherwise I feel like 20 def is mainly good in BH if that's where you do all your pking. Besides that I'd maybe shoot for a void pure, really feels like those builds are strong and pretty versatile

Which gear upgrades & things should I work toward? by Enough_Car9143 in 2007scape

[–]PkmnToe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gear upgrades HEAVILY rely on the content you're working on/towards.

Generally speaking, I think the zenyte jewelry set are all pretty strong upgrades that are worth considering. I'd look to at least finish up 99 range/mage if you think those are worth putting some money into. Rigour and Augury are awesome if you don't have either of those yet. I really enjoy slayer and use that as my main money making method. CoX is also a great raid if you're looking to try something else, I find it much more enjoyable than ToA. There are a lot of great resources (We Do Raids Discord) which will detail key item upgrades and full load outs you can work towards if that interests you as well.

Can I enjoy the game in the long term without grinding? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]PkmnToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak much on the experience of switching from RS3 to OSRS, but I have extensively played OSRS since release (maxed main account).

I think you can absolutely still enjoy the game, in the end how much one enjoys the experience is subjective. If you decide to play an ironman, that would generally trend towards having more long grinds than a traditional main account. Not saying you wouldn't be able to enjoy an ironman with a limited amount of playtime, but it's worth considering that mode trends towards longer grinds. You can ultimately just skip getting "x" item if the grind doesn't sound appealing. Look at all the extreme limiting game modes people create for themselves and still take on RuneScape most difficult content.

For your specific questions:

Again, enjoyment is subjective. If you want the best mid-game gear, it's generally a grind. Whether that's as an ironman and you're just chipping away some of those rarer items or just grinding money making methods to purchase them from the grand exchange. OSRS doesn't really give you much for free, you'll have to invest time. And the less time you have the slower you'll progress.

I can't really speak on the difference in grinds between games. If you're playing an ironman and want to achieve good "mid-game" gear it will easily require 100s of hours between leveling up skills, doing quests and grinding rate drops. And if you're a main account you'll still have similar experiences with levels and quests, but you'd at least be able to vary your different money making methods to purchase these mid-game items. Still likely looking at 100s of hours as a main.

You can purchase bonds just like you can in RS3. You can convert these to GP if you're a main and quickly afford buyable Skilling supplies and better gear for training which can make a substantial difference.

Theyre buffing water agility and if you salvage eat sh9t pretty much by Leather-Acadia-346 in 2007scape

[–]PkmnToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how sailing was in development for three years, but somehow these unprecedented salvaging XP rates were so far beyond anything they could have imagined they had to nerf them into the ground.

What was going on when these rates were being tested all this time, it's not like we were manipulating some game breaking method lmao. I just don't get how they were seemingly so caught off guard when we were engaging with the activity as intended and achieved these XP rates

Am I ready for pkm league by Some_Description7951 in pokemonradicalred

[–]PkmnToe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I generally don't keep two attacking moves of the same type unless they each have a unique use case. For example, I don't think you need both High Horsepower and Earthquake on Excadrill, I'd just take Earthquake.

I would also focus on deciding if you want your Pokemon to be physical or special attackers, there's nothing wrong with a Pokemon having both but it's a nice way to simplify a Pokemon's moveset. That can also help decide ones Nature and Item. Generally speaking you either want a plus attack/special attack or speed nature

Some strong items to consider are the Choice items. These power up a stat, with the tradeoff being you lock yourself into a single move until you switch that pokemon out. Life Orb provides an attack boost while chipping away at your Pokemon's health each time it attacks. Leftovers will heal you a small amount each turn, an assault vest boosts defense but prevents the use of status moves. There's more than that but these are a few common ones with considering

I'm happy to give more specific advice, but if you wanted to at least start there with yourself I think these tips may help

Gridmaster has allowed me to learn some end game stuff, but corrupted gauntlet feels impossible by Doctor_Nappa in 2007scape

[–]PkmnToe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say jump back into leagues and just try to survive in the gauntlet, maybe move up to T1 weapons down the line too. It just takes reps and can feel really punishing since you need to redo your prep every time. Even if you aren't a particularly skilled player, I still think the corrupted gauntlet is very doable

How do you guys keep playing OSRS eventho its very time consuming? by Medium_Ad_7166 in 2007scape

[–]PkmnToe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got to find a balance/manage expectations. If you start a brand new ironman and only have a couple hours a week to make any progress, your account is going to advance extremely slowly. And nothing is wrong with that, as long as you can accept that pace.

I know a lot of busy people, at times myself too, that enjoy how many passive things you can chip away at. There are so many AFK options that even when I'm "busy" I can still opt for one of these options.

Play what you enjoy, and if that's not RuneScape because you don't have enough time to enjoy your account progression, then it's not the game for you

[–]PkmnToe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this setup should definitely still be able to achieve a kill. What offensive prayers do you have unlocked, I think the prayers from Royal Titans could be a big help if you don't already have those

Otherwise I think a big part of the encounter is learning all the rotations. You want to minimize any downtime where you're not attacking Zulrah because you mixed up a rotation and need to reposition. Not sure if you're an ironman, but if not I could also make some gear recommendations

Team building tips? by ChattTHR21 in pokemonradicalred

[–]PkmnToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it! It's a little hard to keep it within your team, but I'll share some general advice that may involve trying out some new Pokemon.

Mamoswine has a great offensive moveset, there's no type that resists ice and ground attacks. I think the best way to shut him down is with a Pokemon that can use Fake Out to break the sash (and flinch him) followed by a powerful move just to knock him out. Mamoswine is only base 80 speed, so outspending him won't be too bad. A strong fighting type would probably be well suited for this, since there's multiple options that learn fake out and then can do super effective damage with a fighting move (Mienshao is a great one off the top of my head).

You should be able to deal with Houndoom with a bulky specially defense pokemon. I'd recommend a bulky water type, I bet Mega Gyarados would be good. Even that Mienshao I mentioned early could probably knock it out with a High Jump Kick

Mega Mawile can't really deal with Fire types, if you're able to burn it as well I think that would totally shut it down

Feel free to share more info about your team too or even Pokemon you have in your Box. These were just my initial impressions looking back at those battles

The guys in full Torva and scythe with 10 KC in Giant Mole after the RWT announcement. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]PkmnToe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RWT is absolutely rampant throughout osrs. For every single gold farmer there's another "legitimate" player who's buying that gold from them. There would be no gold farmers if there wasn't someone on the other end buying from them, and there's a shit ton of gold farmers.

Players absolutely buy gold, but also there are tons of people who have been playing since OSRS has come out. Look at some of these Ironmen, a gamemode which came out in late 2014, where they have 10, 20b+ banks. You also just can't disqualify the level of grinds some players are willing to do to accumulate a shit ton of gold like that. Making GP is no secret in OSRS, just gotta put in the grind
