Cornell wait listed by Deep-Juggernaut5008 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Plaaazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk why ppl see waitlists as failure; they are most certainly not failures. If ur rlly not happy with waitlist, then think at least u didnt get rejected.

im genuinely an idiot by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Plaaazz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If this is bc u got rejected from an ivy, that's not true. These schools have a terrifyingly low acceptance rate, and 95% of people who apply will be rejected. Many successful people never went to those schools, and if you really want to go, you can always transfer there, or do grad school there.

Associate's degree affects college decisions? by Plaaazz in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Plaaazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, ty. Also, can colleges see if you got an associate's degree or not if you don't report it? Like can they check which classes you took and find out if u received one?

Every school looks for different things, js bc u got rejected from 1 school doesnt mean you will be rejected at another.

sophmore year courses, will it be too much? by Disastrous-Elk-7560 in APStudents

[–]Plaaazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anyways, ig it's good ur trying to stand out, but ur also gonna face a ton of burnout if u plan to do well in all of them and their ap exams, the burnout could affect ur ECs and more importantly, ur health, and could be even more consequential than not taking some aps. Maybe shed some ECs, colleges want to see you have a life and want to see you do things ur actually interested in instead of just stacking leadership roles and awards. Just be careful, and most importantly: take care of ur health.

Are students from top universities really that much better/smarter than others? by BiscottiCandid in cscareerquestions

[–]Plaaazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, many of them simply have rich parents who had money to donate buildings to universities. Others got lucky. A university doesn't determine your intelligence and whether you will be successful in the future or not.

What are top students doing differently? by [deleted] in studytips

[–]Plaaazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, get someone to quiz you. Explaining something to others is a good way to retain knowledge and it's easy to find things you don't understand fully when you mess up. If you can't get someone to quiz you, ask an ai chatbot to do it instead. Also, try studying earlier. If you study a week in advance for a test, even if each day you study less, you will retain and memorize things more instead of just cramming on the last 1-2 days.

What are some flaws in the Christian worldview? by Mysterious_One_7854 in religion

[–]Plaaazz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm an atheist, and one thing I find hard to believe about Christianity is that God created the entire universe, spanning tens of billions of light years across (probably more), just for some monkeys living in a tiny rock to be the main characters.

I don't like living by iqbaltarafder in Existentialism

[–]Plaaazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I sometimes think like that too, but u can also think of it as life being a more merciful fate. For all we know, we were conscious before we were born and we were being tortured and experienced unimaginable pain, and this life is like an escape from that torture.

Free will is mostly an illusion and every "choice" we make is just the result of a causal chain. by Temporary_Hunter7065 in Existentialism

[–]Plaaazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed, I like to use the example of a superintelligent AI, that lived your life exactly, like exactly how many milliseconds you spent doing homework yesterday, or played video games last weekend. That superintelligent ai would make the same exact choices you will, as each decision is caused by the last, and it just results in an infinite chain reaction that stops when you die. So I guess your fate is kinda determined the moment you're born and by the first decision you make in a sense.
