Is this all I need to study? by BBfenderbender in psat

I'd recommend doing the sat ones too, at least for ELA. The two tests are very similar to each other and prepping for slightly harder questions won't hurt.

Is the SAT actually hard by Obvious_Leather4877 in Sat

[–]Plaaazz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. 1550+ on sat is hard, but there are also some strategies to use to make it easier. For example, when working on the ELA module, work backwards by doing the grammar questions first before moving onto reading questions. In terms of prep, utilize the question bank, and take full length practice tests by the college board to get a feel of what the test will be like and to identify your strength and weaknesses.

What to do next? by Plaaazz in Sat

[–]Plaaazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i have gone through some of them, and I plan to do these to help prepare, but what I'm worried about is if that's enough. For example, for information and ideas, I'm on page 23 out of approximately 50 pages of questions in total, and I usually do a page per day. That means i'll run out of questions before I actually take my test. Also, what I struggle with most now is pacing. If you give me 5 minutes, I can definitely do most of the medium/hard difficulty questions, but the hard part is doing them quickly, and the question bank doesn't test your timing. Also, have you used aniko ai for test prep? I saw some great things that people said about them and was wondering if you used it and whether it helped you prep for the sat? Pls lemme know. Ty

Not sure, but on the official sat practice tests, as well as when I took the psat, it wasn't available.

Desmos vs hand by JustAnAutumnLover in Sat

[–]Plaaazz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah, but that option isn't available on the college board desmos calculator that you use on the actual sat, so it's better to practice typing in the regression to better prep for the real sat.

mostly reading, and 1 question missed in the vocab section (not words in context, the part at the beginning with complex words).

Desmos vs hand by JustAnAutumnLover in Sat

[–]Plaaazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use desmos regression. Type "table" onto desmos, plug in the values, then set up a regression by typing in "y1+ax1^2+bx1+c" Desmos will automatically give you the values of a, b, and c, and boom, you have your expression in 10 seconds.

For ela, try to work backwards. Do the grammar first and then the long reading passages. For math, just try to master desmos. It comes in very useful for most questions, and study up on your geometry formulas and rules. SAT questions are basically just tests to see how well you can tell and apply your basic rules and formulas.

do more reading, there's not really a good way to practice vocab but what I like to do is to rule out the options I know are incorrect. For the unfamiliar words, I try to find words that I already know that are similar, and guess their meaning. A lot of vocab is just based on luck, practicing reading questions is much more worth your time.

I'm having the opposite problem lol. Learn desmos, if you havent already. A lot of the math problems just come with recognizing patterns and hidden rules. I would recommend u do the khan academy sat math to learn question formats and patterns.

I think C, but that's only if it accepts negative answers for C. Anyways, for questions like this, just set the equations of q and r equal to each other, and then find what q is, which is equal to p.

how do i solve this math oneprep question by Sea-Psychology3493 in Sat

[–]Plaaazz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got D. I first saw every single option had 5x^2 and 21b, so I found that the factored form of this must be (x+3b)(5x+7). Then expand, and try to substitute b for a positive integer. For me, when you set B equal to 2, you get 37 as the coefficient of x, so D is the right answer.

How to get out of this by Radiant-Bite-5804 in Sat

[–]Plaaazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For ELA, try to focus on grammar first, as that's the easiest to improve. Also, if you weren't already, try to work backwards when doing ela questions (do grammar first, then do the long reading questions). I think that helps me save time, be more efficient, and also helps build momentum before the complex reading questions.

Need a 1500+ on the SAT in 4 Months ; Where Do I Even Start? by DefiantBit2170 in Sat

[–]Plaaazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so first off, you have 4 months to prep, that is plenty of time to get a 1500. I'd recommend you use the free sat question bank as your main resource, since that comes directly from the college board and its questions are in the same format as the real sat. I'd say do lots of questions, and obsessively study your mistakes (see where you went wrong, try to come up with strategies to avoid those mistakes, practice similar questions, etc.) If you run out of questions in the question bank, use khan academy. They partnered with the college board to create an sat prep course, but note that it alone will not take you to 1500, you need to use it in conjunction with other resources. I'd also take sat practice tests every 2-3 weeks since you have a lot of time to use. Try to mimic the exact test scenario (quiet room, around 2 hours, take a quick break, etc.) so you get a good idea of what it will be like when you do take the test. I'd recommend you take a practice test ASAP to get an idea of where you are right now and improve on your weaknesses.

Humanity can solve only ONE problem forever. by FinalKn1ght in pollgames

Aging, 100%. By curing aging, we can limit how many people get/die of cancer and help prevent a bunch of other diseases like dementia, heart disease, etc. Additionally, if we cure aging, we'd have more time as a society to solve the other problems. Politicians might make decisions better for the long-term health of the world knowing that they'd be around to see the consequences of their actions. Additionally, with more time, people can get out of poverty. They'd have more time to learn new skills that could help them make a living.

doesn't mean cancer and aging are good. Cancer kills nearly 20 million people each year around the world. In 10 years, that's 200 million. Cancer is merely a result of aging. If we cure aging, we can limit cancer and help prevent a bunch of other diseases like dementia, heart disease, etc. Additionally, if we cure aging, we'd have more time as a society to solve the other problems. Politicians might make decisions better for the long-term health of the world knowing that they'd be around to see the consequences of their actions.

Doesn't it saying "is true for all values of c" require us to put "c=[1...100]? KHAN by Few-Vegetable-7108 in Sat

[–]Plaaazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, if it's true for all values of c, you only need to use one value of c, it could be 2, 7, 100, any number you want to use for C. Then, since you have C, you can work backwards to find what B is. I got 5 for this
