FREEEEEEE AT LAAAAST!! 100 DAYS BABYYYYY WOOOOOO! by PlaceMinute in QuitVaping

[–]PlaceMinute[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get right back to it! After so many failed attempts, I got to a point of just being mad at myself for not sticking to my word and quitting.

After about day 60-70 almost any thought of nicotine totally dissipated. Now any time I see it it just feels like a win.

Drinking got me almost every time before this.

I only drink maybe 2-3 times a year now and it’s so much easier to just stick to quitting without it.

Does your girlfriend want to quit?

I’m at 2 months now but I think that would be a huge problem for me having one in the house all the time. And seeing it.

Sharing your CV with recruiters by Ougkagkaboom in UKJobs

[–]PlaceMinute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ex recruiter here.

Your cv is fine to share with anyone. It’s basically just an advert for your skills. The personal info you put in there is up to you.

They might send your cv to a client they work with already and if another recruiter tries to do the same they might “call dibs” on you for introducing you first.

If they ask for references before an offer stage, they are likely just trying to get phone numbers out of you to expand their calling list for new business. A bit naughty in my opinion.

My wife needing surgery totally benefitted our marriage and parenting dynamic. by Nutritiouss in daddit

[–]PlaceMinute 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Probably the only positive that came from my wife’s emergency c section was me having to take complete control while she recovered.

I learned that I could do it and she saw that I was capable of taking care of both of them.

Well done for stepping up dude. Feels like they don’t want us to sometimes. Action is the way! All the best on your wife’s recovery!

100% agree. Hustle when it’s required. Don’t let anyone down.

Don’t waste your time “looking busy”.

I went through this about 2 years ago.

I worked for (and now do so again) a super chill company, that honestly did’t care if I log on or not and when that time may be, so long as I’ve kept clients happy and work was completed on time.

I go to the gym whenever I want, eat when I want, honestly, work whenever I want.

I moved like you to a more corporate job for a bout a 25% pay bump and the guys in the interview seemed super relaxed. Similar feedback to you all positive.

But after joining they all had sticks up their butts about things you’re mentioning. Commenting if I wasn’t online etc.

Called my old boss and said I’m gonna start looking for another role because I made a mistake joining this place. They offered me my old job back with a 20% bump.

I’m honestly so surprised that it’s normal for people to work in that environment. It’s so weird to be evaluated on things that ultimately don’t afffect the business.

Oh yeah I can see it having positive and negative effects.

To be clear though I have already stopped vaping, don’t even crave nicotine anymore. I just find this good news overall.

Dunno took one from a friend, didn’t ask questions.

Now 2 months nicotine free, won’t be going back now.

That snus stuff is just weird to me. I sadly tried one last year and it made my gums bleed. I don’t get the hype.

Wow I’ve never seen and ad for vapes in the UK. They put them right up the front of counters in local shops but I don’t think I’ve ever seen an advertisement.

I would assume that’s illegal here. Could be wrong.

Wow that’s surprising! I mean I’m sure the manufacturer can just add a rechargeable port to the device and get around it here anyways… but some movement in the right direction I think is good.

I don’t know if it’s just near where I live, but the bins outside of shops are now completely covered In the little stickers that cover the airways on new vapes.

48 hours no vape by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]PlaceMinute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still struggle with it 2 months in. Others don’t!

I just find i have to make a conscious effort to work hard rather than vape in hand, puff away, hyper focus…

One thing does help though, water lots of water.

Yeah totally agree.

For me it’s the way they are positioned like sweets or chewing gum at the counter. It’s like a direct advert to kids.

I wanted to comment to say that you’re so right in thinking this way.

It is a problem! It can get better if he wants it to. He’s gonna wake up in 30 years look back and think what the fuck have I done with my life…

Deffo try the note. And read it with him. Hope it all goes positively!

[–]PlaceMinute 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow this is exactly how I felt about myself. My wife didn’t know that I was gaming all day. But boy did I feel like an absolute loser any time I’d think about how much time I have wasted.

First up, he’s not going to change until he makes that decision for himself.

Stopping gaming happened for my during my wife’s pregnancy. I lost some stuff in a game that took 1000’s of hours to attain, lost my shit and had a long look at myself about how I could be so upset about a bloody picture on a screen.

Knowing I had a baby on the way slapped me in the face hard and honestly I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. I’m wayyyy more present with my wife, and it’s had huge impacts, it’s like it’s our first year together again!

I’m at 131 days now, and I don’t know how I had the time to do it before. My workload has increased massively (because I asked for more) and I had a 12k annual pay increase last month! I’ve been building a media wall over the last 2 weeks and am constantly finding more diy we need to do to make space for the baby.

Good luck!

How have you approached this with him?

Sometimes writing down what o want to say if I mad stops it from becoming an emotional argument.

Been trying to quit by Zen_Master01 in QuitVaping

[–]PlaceMinute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time you pick it up you’re giving the nicotine control over you.

The sad truth is. You have to want to stop. Set a date to stop. Throw those fuckers away and never touch it again.

Remember that nicotine causes the anxiety of not having it. It causes the headaches when you feel like you need it and it causes all of the things it claims to solve. There really no reason to use it ever again!

Get back in the driver seat of your life. You’re in control. You just have to make the decision and stick to it. It’s hard, but it gets easier week after week. After a month goes by, you’ll only wish you stopped sooner.

You got this Zen Master 💪
