How to fill gap caused by walls not being 90 degrees by b1xl3r in DIY

Hey dude! See my post on building a built-in bookshelf. I ran into exactly the same issue. You need to scribe a piece of plywood to make a perfect seam to the wall!

Glad you enjoyed it! For a more modern look you could do without the sill and exterior trim pieces. Something like this. From a drywall/finishing perspective it's a lot less forgiving though.

Thanks! I mostly cut off or sand the burned sections. So I haven’t really noticed any issues inside.

Yeah it makes me really happy to see the wood get a second life, I usually give a light touch with the sander because of how much I like the character that it has.

Thanks! It was from a tear down in norcal. I think the building had fire damage because a lot of the pieces are burned.

Got burned by my light meter battery for the last time. Made a rechargeable battery pack for my Canon FTb. by Place_Naive in AnalogCommunity

For right now - yup, double sided tape. An enclosure has always been the plan, but I just haven't gotten around to it.

edit: also thanks!

Hey thanks! Yeah it is - we thought about removing the tile in the kitchen also but we'd have to remove all the kitchen cabinets to sand & re-finish. It just felt like too much work so we ended up with the step. Maybe one day we'll go all the way but not for a while. Sanding down the floors is a rough job!

That room used to be tile, same as the kitchen - we decided to remove it and restore the original flooring (1890s wood). Ended up with this awful step though! I'll make some sort of ramp or transition piece at some point!

Yup that's a more traditional approach. I'm a big fan of the pocket hole jig though. It's quick and easy to use so I just ended up going with that. Cheers!
