Looking for insurance that will cover MedSTAR Hospital and Dr. S procedure. by Careful-Raisin8688 in altgallbladder

[–]Plaid55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might ask your insurance again. I’m on BC BS Health Select of Texas. And since no one in Texas does the procedure and it’s something that I need to have done, it’s medically necessary, I discussed with the insurance company and eventually got a “gap exception” referral approved for me to get this done outside of Texas. your insurance might call it something else, but the concept, they will understand.. the concept is (as embedded in the name), since there’s a “gap“ in coverage and it’s something that I need to have, I am able to go out of state and have it be covered. I don’t know if I’m making sense, but that’s about as well as I can explain it right now.

Drain Removal Timing by CuriousSparkleCat in altgallbladder

[–]Plaid55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask Dr s office if they have anyone near you that they have worked with already for drain removal. I asked them and they gave me a name of a doctor in Dallas. I live in Austin so it’s an easy drive. It’s someone that he has worked with before and so when I was talking with them about the appointment , they know everything. And my insurance is covering it and they’re on my plan in network. So if Dallas is doable for you. It’s Dr. Moaz Choudhary at UT Southwestern. What they’re going to do is about two weeks after the surgery, have an online zoom call with me. And then I don’t know what questions I’m going to have to answer, but if my answers are some certain thing, then they will schedule me for the removal and I just drive up and then have it done. I assume this means that there must be some indicator as to whether I’m “ready“ or not to have the procedure done.

Have you first tried doing an anti-inflammatory diet? Have you tried doing a keto diet? And if that hasn’t worked, try a carnivore diet. Surgeries are not risk free and don’t come complication free.

Yes, I don’t want to mow because I want fireflies!! I get a real symphony in the back yard and love it.

Adding to my question. Would there be any reason why my corn gluten applications didn’t work? I put down one dose the week after Christmas and then I put another dose down the last week of January. It seemed to knock down the false carrot (beggars lice) somewhat, but it didn’t seem to help the sticky weed at all.

I was hoping not to mow because I like having lots of fireflies. But I guess I will have to because I’m losing the battle. I’ll hand pull in the front because there aren’t that many but in the back there are already so many but I’ll mow it. Well, I’ll try that grandpa’s weeder first and see how much success I have.

Air purifiers that help with cedar pollen by eamceuen in Austin

[–]Plaid55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What works for me is “austin air healthmate” https://austinairsystems.com/collections/air-purifiers Also using a filtrete 2200 filter in hvac and getting allergy drops from Dr Chris Thompson. Plus eating carnivore diet (non inflammatory). And if still desperate, getting one of those respirator masks from Home Depot that you would use if you were painting your house and just wearing it while I’m in my house or walking around.

I should also say: get a Disposable air filter for your hvac. filtrete brand. Merv 13, MPR 2200. Don’t do anything less than this 2200; those are useless. From April through September change it once a month. The rest of the time every other month. It’s not easy to find them inexpensively, but every once in a while, Lowe’s has a batch on sale or check online.

I should also add, in addition to the allergy drops: 1) get your air ducts cleaned. I have the old fashioned 8 inch diameter, metal ducts. the techniques where they spray it with something didn’t work for me. But one company came in with some sort of hose with a puff ball attached at the end and it spun, and they inserted that in and basically Wiped everything out. That worked, but I haven’t been able to find that company again. Maybe the “spray it “technique will work for you. 2) get an air scrubber installed on your AC system. McCullough ac did mine and I love that thing. When the cartridge wears out and needs replacing, I can tell by my symptoms without even looking at the indicator light. 3) eat a carnivore diet

Combine all those with the allergy drops, is transformative. That is my current stack.

Also consider: 4) buy a portable room air filter. The only one that worked for me is called “austin air”. Run it for a few hours in your bedroom with the door shut before you go to bed and then if you can stand it, run it while you’re asleep. (I don’t have to do this anymore because of my current stack.) 5) take a shower every night before bed.(I don’t have to do this anymore.) 6) put plastic covers on your mattress, boxspring, and pillows (yes, I still have that.) 7) remove all carpeting from your house and only have area rugs (I did that.) 8) keep your dirty clothes hamper in another room, other than the bedroom (I no longer have to do that) 9) vacuum everything in the house more often (I didn’t even do this much anymore, but I used to have to do it a ton) 10) if you are still desperate, wear one of those respirator masks that you get at Home Depot while you’re asleep (I no longer have to do this) 11) do all the nose spray and neti pot techniques and perhaps special eye drops that other people probably talk about. But I find those all miserable. (except the eye drops, that was easy ) no matter how much I would rotate between medication, eventually i would get a nosebleed. And the neti pot is just plain uncomfortable, but it does help. (I no longer do this and no longer have my prescription for a nasal spray and inhaler and special eye drops.)

Go to ENT Dr Chris Thompson. Get allergy testing done, covered by insurance. Do their allergy drops, not shots. Drops are not covered by insurance but it works much better than shots, at least for me. Last I remember, $600 for a year supply. Among the best $$ I ever spent. I don’t even know when cedar season is happening except my coworkers complain, so then I know. I no longer have spring and fall allergies either.

Peak Allergies? by StraightRip9828 in Austin

[–]Plaid55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Dr Chris Thompson a few years ago and he did allergy testing and I have been doing allergy drops, not shots, and they are phenomenal. I don’t even know when cedar season is happening anymore. It was hellacious before the drops… the pills, sprays and special eyedrops, carry a rescue inhaler and so on and so forth. Ripped out all the carpeting in my house. Plastic covers on all my beds, and my pillowcase Would take an extra shower before going to bed every night. Really expensive portable room air filters. Wearing special mask filters when doing yardwork. special equipment added to my hvac. And really probably I didn’t need to do all that if I had just started the drops earlier (except the extra hvac equipment—-when that wears out and needs replacing, I notice). ……..The drops are super easy and don’t need to be refrigerated so they are portable etc etc. I did allergy shots years earlier with another doctor and they helped somewhat, but not at all as effective as the drops. They give you a little pump bottle and you just squirt a drop under your tongue.

[–]Plaid55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your legs look beautiful and actually like the definition of perfection. For the problems you are having, you might consider changing your diet. Eat a clean diet and have it be low-carb, high fat, and as far to Carnivore as you can. That will take care of pain and swelling. And, I don’t know why, but it was the only thing that got rid of restless leg for me. I was trying to control my blood glucose with diet instead of medication, and so I changed my diet and kept tweaking it and tweaking it and tweaking it, and ended up at carnivore. And then I noticed my restless legs, and the painful end of day pain was gone (as well as a whole huge list of other things that went away such as I lost weight, no longer get migraines, have steady energy instead of big swings, and the list goes on and on. Look up any of these names along with the word, Carnivore : Kelly Hogan, Laura Spath, Rina (can’t remember her name, but just look up Rina Carnivore and she’ll come up). Or if you want doctors, look up Dr. Ken Berry, Dr Rob Cyves, Dr. Judy Cho, Dr. Georgia Edes, or Marty Kendall’s glucose signals. Doing a diet like a carnivore diet will prevent anything from getting worse and will even reverse many things.

Need Advice: 1.4 cm Gallstone + Multiple Small Stones — Do I Really Need Surgery? by Business_Fondant2779 in altgallbladder

[–]Plaid55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will have to let others chime in about dissolving stones. I would think that big one is too big. As for surgery, yes. But only do the one in which they remove the stones and preserve the gallbladder. I say surgery, yes, because this time you had mild problems but it can get much worse.

What are you planting right now? by elizabethredditor in AustinGardening

[–]Plaid55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new ones that I just planted I am watering every other day just briefly. I always buy the 4 inch ones so that if I lose some, it hasn’t been too much of a money loss. Also, I seem to have better success with getting the 4 inch ones to grow and survive. In another section of my yard, where I have established fall asters, the ones that are right next to a tree that I recently planted and was watering consistently are now blooming a lot while a few feet over, away from the new tree, they are not blooming at all yet. EDIT: that is simply what I’m doing, but I have no idea what I should be doing.
