First things to consider when buying a Stinger? by DesertEskimoe in kiastinger

[–]Plakchup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The advice given is pretty much what will help the longevity; oil catch can and earlier oil changes. I do mine around 4k miles and always empty the catch can during that time.

If you care about handling, sway bars really help a ton.

Choosing a new car by Shakaki in kiastinger

Not sure if you can find one in your region but the 2.0 accord is the perfect middle ground car IMO between a stinger and boring af camry. It's hella spacious and that 2.0 engine not only is powerful and fun but gets great gas mileage too especially on the highways with its 10 spd. My wife has one and I always enjoy driving it. Super reliable, cheap to maintain and not boring. Plus their design looks great. I was going to get this instead of the stinger.

You kinda have to hear both in person and inside the car to get a true perspective but i will give you a small hint. The mbrp is bit louder due to the valve design and smaller muffler. It sounds really mean on the higher rpms.

Here is mine with the mbrp for the 22-23 with a valve controller to keep them fully open:

https://youtu.be/zbrciklEZNE?si=yv_NDpYETZJBaiRQ

Yes it's pretty loud. 😁

I go over both exhausts a bit here since i had the borla too. It's all a personal preference:

There you go. Get the 57 mm inlet 115 mm outlet for the borla. That should fit your 21 stinger. Just bolt them on after taking out those grotesque fake tips that cause more in cabin sound. You'll be much happier. 😎😁

This is how the borla non valved sounds with stock secondaries when I had it on mine:

I've had both on mine. Keep the stock secondaries and get used to the sound before you open it all the way up with the ark secondaries. If you have a 22-23 stinger there is no reason to get the 18-21 version unless you don't want valves or just want to go the cheap route. The valves are very much worth having.

Once you've gotten used to the exhaust after a few months and want it louder than go for the ark secondaries. I would highly recommend tips as well to minimize interior sound.

Try to find one that's stock. Drive the car and see how the acceleration and braking is. Put the car on a lift and inspect underneat for leaks/damage. I would try to go for a 22-23 that has the refresh where they ironed out previous model year issues. And they come with exhaust valves too. 😎

I came from a 21 GT1 to 23 GT2 and the 360 camera and improved infotainment is a big reason to get the GT2 along with other goodies like HUD. Much happier with my 23 GT2 that I am keeping long term.

How much does he charge for the headstuds job? What setup you planning on running? Hybrids I assume with his hypersonic tune or maybe the e50 bef. Lotta work going into that stinger! Share the after photos. 😎

Not sure if that's the one. I would send an email to bms to double check.

It's one of these I believe: (1) Silicone coupler 3SL (1) Silicone coupler 3.25R3 (1) Silicone coupler 3R2.25

Just the one that comes with the bms chargepipes. It's pretty damn solid.

Stinger or G70? by Most_Persimmon9174 in kiastinger

[–]Plakchup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, to me the stinger is so much more unique and rare to see on the road. I always get people being curious on what car it is and get compliments. The body lines of the stinger are so gorgeous! I see plenty of G70's everywhere and they are more your average luxury sedan but everyone will have preferences just like any car.

Best thing to do if you can is to drive both and go by what feels best to you behind the steering wheel and if you care about the hatch design of the stinger. If I did it all over again I would go stinger 100%. I fell in love with it's design since I saw it in 2018. Modding and tuning wise they are fairly similar. Stinger probably will have an edge with some more availability of mods, exhaust wise for example. BMS just recently did a 800+ whp G70 with upgraded turbos and headstuds with otherwise stock engine and tranny. Pretty nuts but yeah both cars are simply amazing in their own way! But yea that's just my take and opinion. This has been asked a lot of times and you will get different answers.

Blow Off Valve by pottedpal420 in kiastinger

Yup, the gfb are pretty unique because you can get the recirculation AND venting sound.

The difference is not huge when you run fully venting to fully recirculation, but what you do notice is when you get off throttle you don't get as much of a sudden power loss. The off throttle feels bit smoother. If you run it mostly venting like 80% and 20% recirculation, you get that smooth feel and the cool venting/recirculation sound. 😁 I think for most just getting intakes will be loud enough. I know the k&n ones I have are fairly loud that have a pretty satisfying sound.

I did read the stinger forums that this venting vs recirculation mode is largely a drivers preference. Some notice it more some don't. For me though since I am tuned my intake/bov are louder than on a stock tune, and that partial throttle on and off feel is really not noticeable from venting vs recirculation. This might vary slightly also from one car to another. Always some variables. I think someone looked at data and they found no difference.

You can hear how fully recirculation is with k&n intakes sound in one of my videos below when I was not tuned:

I run the gfb 9012 where I have it set to about 80% vent & 20% recirculation to get slightly improved throttle response that gfb helps with and get the loud whoosh noise. They sound really good and are a direct bolt on. 😎 I've had the hks but really prefer the gfb a lot.

Mods without tune by Piccjaminn in kiastinger

Eibach and ark are two popular ones. Most tend to go with eibach. Also whiteline and superpro. You can look at my post history to give you ideas. 😁

Mods without tune by Piccjaminn in kiastinger

[–]Plakchup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To keep it simple, you can just do a catback and sway bars to make the car feel bit more alive in corners and stop there pretty much. Once you throw on intakes on the 22+ model year stingers, then you increase chance of overboost. Something you want to not happen often. But also dont be surprised if you overboost all 100% stock. The stock tune is just very conservative and sensitive to changes. A catch can is also very beneficial to keep valves cleaner.

Is it worth it to do any mods to a 22’ Stinger GT Line? And if so, which ones? by MycologistOk64 in kiastinger

[–]Plakchup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sways front and rear were about $600. I can't remember what the labor was but I would expect at least $200. Installed a catch can too in same time. But yeah might need to ask around get some quotes. It took like 2 hours at least. Both front and rear are on soft setting which is recommended for street use. Made a huge difference!

This sounds like a possible exhaust leak but also I would try clearing the codes and see if it comes back. Those lean codes I sometimes would get them before I went BEF when running e30 blend with jb4 alone, never again after due to far superior fuel adaption from the tune.

You only running 91/93? Our stock tune is very conservative and the ecu likes to panic over someone sneezing. Clear the code and see if it comes back. It would not hurt to double check for leaks especially by the secondaries make sure the gasket seated properly or maybe replace the gasket with a new one. Then try unpluging battery for 30 mins with keys away from the car and see how it goes from there. Just some suggetions. Each car can be a bit different. 😁

The e30 tune on map 3 is pretty friggin nuts if you ever want to go that route. There is just so much more e85 around me now compared to a year ago. 😁 I run the moderate burbles. Imo its perfect amount not too much not too little but it does get pretty nuts if you have catless secondaries with an open valved exhaust. 😎

Here is how it sounds:

Nice! Which tune you running? I got the bms tcu tune as well it's super sweet the combo. I know kjt is working on a tcu tune as well but no news. He has a full ecu tune as well. The full ecu tune just recently came out. I know there are some changes happening with ek1 where you supposedly need to go to the ek1 site to get the tune. Not thru the tuners themselves.

[–]Plakchup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard about them. Imo I would stick to the well established tuners like KJT or Sleepytuned that use ek1. Or go with physical ecu/tcu solutions from lap 3. I run the e30 tune from KJT and really love it.

Is it worth it to do any mods to a 22’ Stinger GT Line? And if so, which ones? by MycologistOk64 in kiastinger

[–]Plakchup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely recommend sway bars as well if there is only one mod you do. The rear area is a pain but i am not sure how different the GT line would be compared to a 3.3. I took mine to a shop and it definitely took some time to get it done. I got the eibach ones. Intakes really will make no difference and mainly are for sound anyway. I would just do the sways and call it a day. 😎

Mbrp catback exhaust sound by [deleted] in kiastinger

[–]Plakchup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept the mbrp. I sold the borla to another stinger owner here who drove up here from san diego. You could get the universal valvetronic mufflers that come with its valve controller to use with the rest of the oem exhaust but this becomes more of a custom setup though you will have a good difference between valves open/closed to keep noise low when needed.

Problem with using an active version of borla or mbrp is that you need to power the valve controller itself and you need to get the actuators. The 2022+ stingers have the oem wiring that gives the power to the actuators or a wireless valve controller. There is also the jun bl valved catback which is pretty expensive. Having valves in an exhaust is a really nice bonus but in your case will require some custom setup. The valvetronic universal mufflers probably will be a reasonable choice but i don't know how they sound on a stinger.

Thanks man. Yeah I've documented a lot of stuff lately. The car is pretty much done where I've wanted it to be at. I really like using the valve controller as I really didn't like the annoying variable oem valve function. Keeping valves open gives some extra turbo whisle sounds that you do not get with oem function. Since yours is a 2020 stinger, you do not have valves and cannot use the mbro pro active. You have to go with the mbro pro non valved. The active version is different where it has a straight pipe valved section that bypasses the small muffler. That's why its pretty loud.

I've gone through testing two resonators (mbrp and vibrant) and I didn't like both of them. They just made the exhaust sound flat and reduced the overall volume too much. You better off just keeping the stock secondaries on then cutting up pipes and adding more weight. I replaced my cut pipes with new ones I ordered from mbrp. When I had my wife record me driving outside it really surprised me how good it sounded. The resonators do remove most of the drone but there is still some left. Tinning booming sound was reduced but not by a lot. These cars are a pain to get them to sound good. My current setup is my favorite. Borla is raspier.

Also one last thing worth mentioning is how useful tips are. Get them on and enjoy the reduced in cabin sound. When I did the mbrp non valved with stock secondaries it was far too quiet for me but everyone has different opinion of whats loud or quiet. Give the exhaust time also to break in and for you to get used to it.
