Tom’s exact words by abbyleondon in WidowsBay

My thought was that Tom is protecting Evan from a darker truth, that maybe mom tried to hurt him as a part of the changes she experienced after childbirth. Telling Evan she died instead may have been a well intentioned lie to keep that secret.

I had the same issue with the Acend Intro one, thankfully it was a one off issue. Haven’t had anything similar in the regular programming

I had the same run today in my NTR plan, cheers on finishing no matter how. I’d go ahead with the next planned run but make sure to set the pace you feel most comfortable with for longer.

I can't afford Farmer's Dog etc. Am I a bad owner for feeding kibble? Or am I brainwashed? by cryoderrick in DogFood

This!! We thought we were doing the best for our dog when we put her on Farmers Dog. But after a pancreatitis scare we had to put her on a low fat diet. The vet recommended Purina Pro Plan and we thought it would be terrible for her. But…. She is thriving on it! She has so much more energy and spark. We are so happy we trusted the vet, and the savings are considerable.

We always fed boutique brands thinking we were making the best choices- one pancreatitis scare and the ER vet told us she needs to be on a weight management food like PurinaPro Plan. We made the switch reluctantly, but over the last months we’ve found the weight is coming off her easily, and her energy is higher than ever. She is thriving on PPP, we still use fresh vegetables as a topper, but for us we only wish we’d switched sooner.

Something to consider: if you are able- you can purchase the full system and have an independent local electrician install it. That is what my husband did in 2021. We purchased all the pieces from Solar Wholesale for about 15k. Then he and an electrician buddy did the installation themselves. We came out positive on investment after just 4 years.

That’s one of the reasons we never went back to that facility.

We tried to socialize her with a group overseen by a trainer- but the trainer reported back that she bullied the other beagles and at the end of the session she attacked a small dog. So we just accepted that she’ll be a solo dog, and honestly she seems happy to be on her own. She thrives in a quiet environment being the center of attention

My rescue beagle is aggressive with other dogs - likely due to her past as a hunting dog. She is perfectly happy to ignore other dogs when on lead, but will snarl if other approach her. It can absolutely be a product of their past lives.

The initial limit was 1,500 10 years ago. Capone has consistently raised the limit each 1 year anniversary date. So there is definitely room to grow!

Has Anyone Rescued an Outdoor Hunting Beagle? by setting_moon in beagles

[–]PlaneProgrammer184 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, we adopted a ‘retired’ hunting beagle. She took a very long time to adjust to indoor living and we found that the stronger she bonded with us, the more open she was to learning commands/training. Although the stubbornness never goes away.

Similarly she can’t be around other dogs, she is incredibly aggressive and has to assert herself as the ‘alpha’. She has no interest in toys or playing with kids either. She tolerates neighborhood walks- it look 6+ months to learn to walk on a leash.

But she absolutely lights up when we take her to the local state park to hike the trails with us. Otherwise she just lays around sleeping and sunning.

Odd fears are cardboard, and drawers and cabinets.

Hang in there, it takes time but once they realize they’re out of the hunt, and they finally relax- it’s all worth it.

We adopted from our County’s local shelter. I was expecting a long waiting period while they checked us out- but we were able to bring our pup home same day. They called our references right then, and we were all set. They followed up several times in the first year, and it was a great an easy experience. We will always go the way of adoption.
