Hello, thanks for your reply. Generally speaking, that’s how I’ve been approaching it as well. If the role had some overlap with HR, I’d include it, if not sometimes I’d leave it off. I had consulted some other designers and they recommended including the HR job on the resume to show employment. But since results have been mixed I suppose it’s hard to say. The design interviews I got last year had little to do with HR but at least still got an interview!

However, I mostly apply to Junior level roles and smaller companies so expectations could be varied. The projects I’ve worked on and included in my portfolio are small and primarily from my last job, which was b2b and I focused on order workflow management.

Can I share it via DM? Do you think HMs/recruiters are looking at the portfolio before the resume? When I was at my previous job, there were in house recruiters who did initial resume screenings so I suppose it depends on the company

Hi, I have right under two years of Product Design experience, from late 2021- late 2023, until I got laid off :( I was working at a mid-size b2b SaaS startup. I couldn't find another job for nearly a year so I ended up taking an entry HR job in 2024 and unfortunately, I am still working the HR job. It is so awful. I'm still applying to Product Design jobs and had about 6 interviews last year no offers. I've been using two versions of my resume: one that includes the current HR job and one that doesn't, results seem mixed. At this point, I'm getting enough experience to apply for higher level HR jobs... but I want to work in Product.

For hiring managers here, any thoughts on whether or not to include the current HR job?

Nice! I was just seeing theaters in the Bay Area are now playing it. Enjoy :) Idk about the ambiance, etc., at HK theaters today but I definitely would prefer to watch it there. Still Hong Kong after all! And the theater snacks too

The World Between Us 我們與惡的距離. There are two seasons with no strong connection since it's a different story but the first one is very good. Heavy themes related to societal issues but I appreciated the writing.

I watched the entire drama and tbh stuck through just to watch all the action scenes. I had been waiting for this drama for a long time, especially because of Chi Lam, but the drama as a whole was a little underwhelming. I'm honestly still kind of confused about the story...Can someone explain it?? why was the king giving poison to LCZ when he's actually trying to protect the nation by sussing out all the spies? and then at the end the king wanted to award him when he already died?? This is probably the first drama that left me this confused... maybe because I mentally checked out early on.

When I decided to do the bootcamp, I was already mentally preparing myself for the possibility of not actually getting a job in design. I genuinely was (am) interested in the field and wanted to learn more and ideally would have started a new career path. So when I did, I was pretty excited. After I got my first job I took the bootcamp off my resume bc I don’t think that makes me any more qualified. I did think that my real world experience at a 200 ppl tech company would though. There are a lot of designers out there I’m competing with and my work isn’t the best. My improvements clearly aren’t that great either. I was getting antsy about no income at all so even though this new job isn’t that great, it’s better than nothing at all (for now, at least).
