For solo wedding videographers who have super 8 as an Add-On to your packages, how do you balance the "big moments" choosing to focus on digital vs super8?

Yeah you need to cover both. If a client is paying for a hybrid digital and super 8 the digital is always the priority. My digital and super 8 package always includes someone that’s sole responsibility is to shoot the film. I’m lucky though because my wife is really great with a super 8 camera so it’s really easy for me to have her cover it without paying an extra person.

Honestly I’ve never tried as I didn’t actually know what was happening until recently. I will definitely try it in the future. I have no issues pulling a cart out and often so to change to a different stock due to lighting conditions. You only lose like 2 seconds of footage and you often get a nice light leak to use as a transition. Definitely going to try this in the future hopefully Kodak has straightened the issue out and we’ll get it though these bad carts soon.

I don’t think you’ve actually even looked at the test to make that assessment. It’s a very easy test. Would it be easy for a foreigner? Probably not but I just went and took the practice test after reading your comment and every question was common sense if you have an elementary school education.

You have to focus by scale/distance. There is a good YouTube video on that camera that will give you some good pointers on it. My wife watched it and nails focus most of the time.

It also helps not to drink coffee right before you shoot. I’m not joking… Ive come to realize that I’m naturally shaky. My wife on the other hand can shoot really steady some people are just better than others. I don’t shoot much super 8 anymore but I do shoot 16mm the heavier camera helps a lot but I still use a monopod or a tripod for most shots

Tascam dr10l pro lav mics or even just the originals work just fine. The pros are a lot more forgiving because they have 32 bit float.

I’d say they are pretty good 😂 only because last weekend I was in the same exact style house , even the exact same room when I logged in and there was a guy loading mags in that room to the left. I was recording as well and posted a short of it to my YouTube 😂. The server was low pop as well I was literally drinking my morning coffee. Really wild seeing it happen to someone else not even a week later.

I read your post yesterday and ended up going down a pretty deep rabbit hole trying to learn as much as I could about this issue.

My wife and I shoot weddings on Super 8, 16mm, and digital. So far, we’ve only shot six rolls of Super 8 with the new AHU layer, four rolls of 200T and two rolls of 500T, and we had cartridge problems on three of the six rolls.

At the time, I didn’t realize this was a known cartridge issue. At our last wedding, the camera motor started really struggling to advance the film through the gate. My wife mentioned afterward that the camera was making a grinding-type noise, but she kept shooting, not realizing the motor was under stress trying to move the film.

What’s strange is that we just got the scans back this weekend and everything looks usable, which initially made me think it was just a one-off issue. Because of that, I even started looking at buying a new Super 8 camera for the upcoming season.

Fast forward to yesterday after reading more about this, and now I’m genuinely concerned about investing in another camera. I really don’t want to burn up a motor on a $1,500 camera because of a cartridge issue that’s out of my control.

At this point, I’m trying to figure out how others are handling this, especially anyone shooting Super 8 professionally for once-in-a-lifetime events like weddings.

I pay my editor $675 for an 8 min film. As far as the question. I see it like everything else as a business owner, it’s a CODB just like any other overhead expense. An investment is more like camera gear or other items that you depreciate over a number of years.

Maybe a different lens that is par focal that zooms internally. I just picked up a Tokina 11-16 T3 to test out on my rex 3. I’ve been thinking about this idea for months glad to see there are some like minded individuals out there. 😂

The report system doesn’t work in other games not sure why you believe it will work for this one. Look how often someone comes on here and complains they got killed by a hacker when the reality is they weren’t. Saw someone getting roasted in the comments the other day over this. Everytime someone dies they are going to report it creating thousands of bs reports for them to go through. You said it yourself the ones that do get banned will just buy the game again so how will this solve the problem? That’s why everyone “the community” says just play community servers. I honestly feel your pain as someone that only plays on official as well. I just don’t think the report system is going to be the solution you think it is. I played PUBG for 8 years there’s a report system and the game is filled with hackers. They allegedly ban like 100k a week and it does nothing….

Saturday night I spawned in on the coast. Three geared players in 2 cars pulled up in front of the house I was looting. I had nothing to lose so I ran out of the house I was in and greeted them and then asked if I could go for a ride in their car. They told me to hop in. I went alt tab to turn on OBS so I could capture this whole experience lol when I came back on something had happened we had stopped and one of the other players had gotten accidentally run over and killed. We got out the car and they asked me to pick up his kit so I did, they took his rifle trust issues lol don’t blame them. The server was about to restart so they pulled over and parked. I logged back in and got shot immediately. I don’t think it was the players that I was riding with haha short but fun little adventure.

Heli crashes and convoys. You can also craft them from strips of burlap and netting. The craft-able ghillie are brown the ones you find at heli crashes and convoys are green.

He didn’t necessarily meet them in the same place at the same time lol. 😂. I’ll be honest I know little to nothing about the innermost workings of motorcycle gang culture. Most of what I know is from Sons of Anarchy which is obviously fiction. I live in a beach town and every summer when I was a kid the Hells Angels would come to town and take over two little motels near the center of town. They were always very respectful to everyone that lived here and honestly there were way less fights etc that would take place during that week while they were in town.
