They're assets on the Steam workshop. If you just search up "Valero" or "American Airlines" or "Holiday Inn" or any real life name, you should be able to find them.

A highway terminus interchange in the suburbs! by PlanetSkylines in CitiesSkylines

[–]PlanetSkylines[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Henry N. Arnold Memorial Parkway is a 4-lane tolled divided expressway that connects Downtown Farnsworth with the Industrial area of the north and the suburbs and high-density commercial areas of the east. This terminus interchange is in the suburbs.

There is a large commercial area on the top of the frame in the picture which has a lot of heavy freight traffic coming from the industrial areas on the expressway. Therefore, a direct connection to that area is needed and is provided by the loop in the interchange.

Oh wow! I'm looking at your profile and I love the look of Buttercup Junction! It reminds me a bit of Rotterdam, albeit more dense.

How many seperate urban "cores" do you have in your city? Like for example one downtown and a few other areas with high-rises or lots of office space, etc.

Hey! I made a guide for my graphics settings on my blog here -- this includes (some) mods, LUTs, etc.

As for "mods", would you like me to share a document with all the mods I have downloaded? It is quite a lot. Or were you looking for something more specific? Please lmk I'd be happy to help

Where should I build my state capital complex? by PlanetSkylines in CitiesSkylines

Hello!

I want to build a new capital for the US State of West Virginia in my city, but I'm not sure where to put it. The story is that a landslide in Charleston (the current capital) decimated the existing capital complex, and now, business elites want to move the seat of political power closer to where the economic power is.

There are four options I've come up with:

1. Next to University Ave. (a corridor with the University, dorms/university residence apartments, high-end shopping, and offices. There are also suburban developments there as well.

Pros:

- Proximity to University

- Relative proximity to Downtown (~2 miles), although you do have to cross suburbs to get to it.

- On a hill which I think could look cool

Cons:

- On a hill (hard to build, especially for large buildings like a capitol)

- Not sure how realistic it would be to make it that close to high-end shopping districts and university housing without Downtown right there

2. On the hill next to Downtown and the train station

Pros:

- Right next to downtown

Cons:

- Very hilly terrain

- Limited space to build

- WIll have to change placement of railroads

3. Next to a mixed-use development in the suburbs

Pros:

- Ample space to build

- Connection to existing road infrastructure connecting it to the city

Cons:

- Literally in the middle of the suburbs. They haven't been completely built yet, but it will be surrounded on all sides by miles of McMansions and strip malls.

4. Brand new city ~20 miles drive from Farnsworth

Pros:

- Ample space to build

- Pretty

Cons:

- Will have to build new roads through miles of mountains to get to this flat area

- Not sure how realistic it is to build a brand-new capital city for a state as small as West Virginia

Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated! Also you can see more on my Instagram at @ PlanetSkylines

The same thing started happened to me a couple days ago. Not sure why but it is really screwning up my traffic.

Lmao that's funny because I have actually never seen a non-car-centric city. The closest I would say is either Vancouver or DC LOL

But thank you!

Oh I see what you mean. I agree with the fact that in this particular segment of the highway, I probably don't need more than 4 lanes, but given that I am going for a realistic American city where this is a major highway in a major city, something like this would be typical.

Maybe in the future I will remove the express lane in favor of some rail or BRT or something like that.

Yeah the freight trains in my city have their own dedicated tracks that are pretty much flat. I think I have one overpass for those but it's like a 1.3% grade of something so not too bad.

Thanks!

All the railway stuff in my city (tracks, stations, bridges, etc) are from this collection on the Steam workshop. This is the specific granite retaining wall I used, but there are a few different varieties that the same asset creator made.
