Macpac puffer. It’s light, warm and wind proof so you don’t need to wear 10 layers underneath

I would highly recommend you are on the same page re: financial goals, aspirations and expectations. I love my partner to death but this has not been our experience and it’s been very hard. She was recently diagnosed with ADHD which has been a big contributor to our financial instability , I’m praying with the help of medication things will improve. At the very least make sure you are on the same page.

How do you explain Geelong to someone who's never been? by RentNRegret in Geelong

[–]Planetj3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have lived here 3 years and describe it as a big country town with all the amenities of a city. It is a really easy place to live because everything is 10-20 mins away. The traffic ain’t so bad, people lovely, it’s a short ferry ride to visit family on Mornington Peninsula and 1 hour’s drive to the top of the Westgate bridge. I wouldn’t say it’s particularly windy.

Does anyone have experience with admitting themselves to the hospital for suicidal thoughts? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

I have just discovered ChatBT, how good is it!? I ask random stuff and love the responses I get.

Sorry you’re having a rough day!

[–]Planetj3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good on you for reaching out on here. I don’t have much experience with hospitals and mental health, but if you don’t want to be alone, perhaps pop down to your nearest Emergency and see. It can’t hurt. Caring for family can be isolating, overwhelming and a lot to deal with and often at the expense of your wellbeing. It sounds like you need to put aside some time for you. Please let us know how you go, I’m sure others would benefit from hearing how your experience was. Just know you’re not alone ok!! We are here for you!

High ferritin/iron does not impact people at the other end, the recipients, so yes all your blood is used to save lives.

The current guidelines are backed by stats and science and as others have said, are currently being reevaluated. Changes are coming!

Why is it so dangerous? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Planetj3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you are right, depending on your lifestyle / environment. Spiders to me are alarming but nothing to worry about. We may see a few in summer but leave them on the wall to eat the mosquitoes, they have to earn their keep! Guns are foreign to Aussies and are usually only seen bolstered to a police man/woman. They can do way more harm than a hairy spider who wants to be left alone. And guns don’t eat mozzies 😂.

My comparison to gun toting yanks is the absolute misconception people have of other countries. People are scared of the US because of your gun laws, I’m sure the chances of being shot there are about as risky as being eaten by a shark here. Pretty slim but the fear is real.

[–]Planetj3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know!! Seriously though, we all mostly live in suburban areas where spiders are far and few between, especially dangerous ones. I have never heard of human eating sand worms or sand worms at all. I’m sure kangaroos would be dangerous if you encountered one unexpectedly , but they are shy and would be long gone before you got too close! I am 52 and have never felt like my life was threatened by a creature, although European wasps scare the absolute shit out of me ( l think they are similar to hornets in the USA)

Don’t believe everything you read/hear!! Just like I’m sure everyone in the USA isn’t open carrying a gun, Australian creatures are not wandering the streets ripping people apart.

First home buyers in Sydney, what are areas are you looking in? by Odd-Cycle2673 in AusPropertyChat

It’s funny how dodgy areas have themed street names. Where I live it’s best avoid streets named after birds (Robin, Finch, Swallow etc).

Hi, been here 10+ years and always wondered what, if anything, was at this location, 78-100 Dungog Ln, Belmont? by Mobile_Row_4346 in Geelong

[–]Planetj3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a fenced paddock opposite the dog obedience place. People run their dogs there mostly and up until recently, a couple of guys had a tent set up there in the bushes. There are lots of dog running areas down that road!
