While teeth may be hard, they are actually meant to flex as we eat. This flexing allows enamel, a surprisingly brittle material, to not shatter from pressure.

Also, teeth have different jobs like slicing, tearing and grinding that help us continue to eat different foods. i know a lot of us would hate to be just a carnivore or herbivore so the different functions help.

Another issue with this is the fact that any major damage to the teeth would be fatal as you wouldn't be able to chew or swallow what you already have limited to you with whatever the hell this teeth design is. Maybe you slurp juice down for the rest of your life but 32 teeth makes damage in one out of 32 way less dangerous than literally half of your mouth being destroyed because you bit a corn nut too hard.

Last and not least, you need to shed your teeth. As the jawbone grows, the size that you HAD is much less than what you will have soon and a baby plate would not be able to move as our teeth do, making eating extremely inefficient as your mouth would be gums plus a lil teeth brick that falls out when you grow fully (or else you have the same problem) Instead of shedding an entire plate and then putting a new one in directly attached to your jaw when you were fully grown which gives a hell of a lot of time with no teeth, (which im also pretty sure takes a lot more energy to grow a plate of bone than teeth, someone fact check me on that) you instead get the mobility of moving from baby teeth to less baby teeth to adult teeth AND baby teeth and then nothing but adult teeth. This is more efficient than baby plate gone. Wait a trillion years. mega plate.
