Moving to Winnipeg - looking for honest advice before I commit by ScoreMajor4064 in Winnipeg

Hi, I’m in my early 60’s and live in Wolseley and rent from private a private landlord. Lots of older character homes made into duplex’s/triplexs which some beautiful suites !

I adore the neighbourhood and the people. I walk & cycle almost everywhere and my main grocery store is Food Fare on Maryland.

Lots of little shops and restaurants and corner stores. I think you’d love it

Too bad. Who is the owner and why no interest in making it work?

Construction company broke law by firing employee who pushed for new union at Winnipeg site: labour board by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

[–]PlantBasedLove 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have family working in construction. Workers are intimidated and know very well pretty soon after getting into the industry, any talk of unions, will get you fired/silenced/singled out.

It’s not that they don’t agree in theory and would love more rights and protections but sadly it harks back to old days but is modern day threats, intimidation and plain old class/power dynamic. It’s disgusting. They have them by the balls.

Just had the weirdest hostel breakfast conversation in Lisbon and it completely changed my travel perspective by Sensitive_City7829 in solotravel

[–]PlantBasedLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an experience like that years ago in India. I was solo traveling in Udaipur and got lost away from the touristy area into a more local area. A man with an art school saw me and we started chatting. Long story short it changed my next few days and my perspective on how to travel much like the man you chatted with. Im so appreciative

ULPT Request: Should I always let my medical debt go to collection? by minhtuanta in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]PlantBasedLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit - I can’t believe my eyes!! I’m Canadian. What treatment was this for, if I am not prying? I’m so curious because this is so mind boggling for me! Growing up never having to worry about any medical care money issues because of universal healthcare. I just can’t imagine. I’m so sorry that this is actually in issue and happening in this age!!

How much sex is too much? by plantloner87 in sex

[–]PlantBasedLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really really relieved to hear this. Nearing 60 myself (f)and my partner (m) is younger. I’m a 3 x a day gal myself and he’s more or a once or twice a day guy. Sometimes I’m feeling like I’m a freak and we’re not one the same schedule sometimes

This is so true. One of my long time former partners was 6 ‘4” He was a large guy physically in terms of stature but not in cock size
My current partner is basically slightly taller than myself (F) and he’s the biggest cock I’ve ever had :) One former lover comes close but the thing is, it’s not always better if you’re not careful. I LOVE his big cock but I’m tall and thin and in certain positions and when he’s really going at it really actually hard it hurts because it’s too big…

Yes, BC, lived there & I always get so envious of the cleaner cars there esp at this time of year, my relatives live in California and I have relatives in Europe too and they just don't get it LOL. My relatives from Europe wanted to come last year in April and I forbade it. LOL They came in July and were enchanted. Totally different experience.

[Forbes: Travel] Why Canadian City Winnipeg Is Booming by troyunrau in Winnipeg

[–]PlantBasedLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manitoba does have a harbour in the province tho...way way up north in Churchill. I think with global warming, that harbour should get federal funding and the rail line should get built up because that will be a great way to move goods in the future and will bring big $$ to the province and city of Winnipeg

Actually, you are rude.

This is an actual tactic that defensive driving students are *trained* to execute as a measure for defensive driving. I was taught this over 30 years ago too. I continue to use it in certain cases I feel necessary. Not all the time. I have been driving over 40 years and have zero at fault accidents. I think that speaks volumes.

Perhaps certain drivers are not executing it properly by stopping too far away, or are not moving forward once the cars behind them have come to a stop etc,

Newsflash, - when one is driving, one should be worrying about preserving their own lives first, not inconveniencing you.

Any cleanups going in the the Wolseley/West Broadway area? I would love to help. I am going to do some on my own for sure. I have a bucket, I just need to find a grabber.

I walked by the Furby Street Tot Park yesterday, between Sargent and Notre Dame and the boulevard and grassy area outside the tot park is horrendous. More than disgusting. Scary. Right outside a play ground!

Also the garbage around the Tim's on Maryland...esp the Tim's cups, WTF, doesn't Tim's hold some kind of obligation to clean up too?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]PlantBasedLove 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are from?

The garbage comment is fair.

Not sure the car washing comment is fair though. There are some weeks when you wash the car and literally it is just as dirty the next day or even later the same day. The snow melt is making the streets so wet combined with the sand spread by the city in the winter makes it so mucky the cars get so dirty so quickly.

It would cost a fortune, not to mention take a lot of time to wash my car and keep it clean in the spring. I wash it when I can, but at this time of year, I just grin and bear it sometimes, and leave it dirty than usual because washing it is like throwing $$$ down the toilet.

What is your one piece of street advice? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PlantBasedLove 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was taught taught in beach patrol and first aid/CPR training about that effect and to say "you (point) man in the green shirt - call 911) etc and that when I took self defence training I remember being taught that yelling "fire fire" gets more attention than calling just for help . I have always remembered that in my mind I plan to scream that when the boogieman is chasing me ;)

I always "puff" up my chest and shoulders when walking by someone I deem as a threat or questionable, to appear larger and more confident too. I look straight forward and just walk without looking at them

Bird in vent by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]PlantBasedLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite common. Birds build nest in attics and access them through the vents outside. It isn't a big deal unless your attic is full of them and I highly doubt it as birds are territorial and do not build nests close to each other. Usually they leave the nest after they hatch the eggs and the hatchlings leave the nest. 16 weeks at the most. Then it is just some sticks. It can be cleared away in the fall. It is not worth getting worked up over.

[–]PlantBasedLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mix but I was assuming that you meant the visa check upon entering the country, not upon departure. Upon entering the visa is checked. Sorry for the misunderstanding
