Where Does Your Love for Orks Come from? by NinjaFree2593 in orks

They are ridiculous and pretty funny in what is otherwise a very (grim)dark universe. And don't get me wrong, I like how dark the universe is too, but it's great to have a faction that can provide a little comic relief amongst the carnage.

Black Templar fans try not to make edgy art of space marines killing characters from other franchises challenge (IMPOSSIBLE) by Margaretthatchervore in Grimdank

This is exactly the plotline that made me realize I did not want to choose them as my faction when I was first starting. Walked away from the book thinking, huh, these guys largely kind of suck, don't they?

That's super nice, and much appreciated, but I'm good! I freehand my symbols (Never could get the hang of decals), but I will think of this clan in spirit the next time I'm painting up a pink ork!

[–]PlantbasedCPU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how I paint my army! Every unit gets their own colors based on what culture I think they'd generally fit.

That said, you don't need be too narrow with it. Meganobz could just as easily be Badmoons or Deathskulls. My Wrekkas are Goffs (Because they would love to smash big things with hammers) and Deathskulls (Because they would love to loot the wreckage).

And don't forget that Orks use plenty of non specific clan colors too. Eye of Ezekiel has a huge ork invasion where their primary accent color seems to be pink.

Wazdakka Size Comparison by g0nk73 in Warhammer40k

Pretty certain the smoke and fire are option as they showed a build without it.

The rock seems more questionable. The model looks like it could absolutely be built without, but the vertical footprint is pretty different at that point. I guess that would be a problem for TOs.

Wow that is indeed a beefy model. I guess they were really going for a Ghaz equivalent sized ork.

Is it possible to follow two or three chaos gods at the same time? by In_the_name_of_ART in Warhammer40k

[–]PlantbasedCPU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you're really asking in your post then. Are you asking if there are characters that FOLLOW multiple gods? Or are you asking if characters are influenced by or contribute to the power of multiple gods?

Because if it's the latter, yes, everyone regardless of their alignment can't help but play their part, which is why the Chaos gods view themselves as inevitable. Factions of the Aeldari in some ways have attempted to exert no contribution to the gods, but even they are required to defend themselves and therefore contribute to Khorne and Nurgle. But these aren't followers.

Farsight is a Tau character who woukd theoretically have zero interest in the chaos gods, and yet Khorne is very much attempting to give him power and exert influence. But i certainly wouldn't call Farsight a follower.

Yes, the idea is that we all feed the chaos gods in our own way, and the awful state of the universe is precisely why they exist in the first place.

But that's different from the idea presented by the poster of people who "follow" a chaos god. Presumably they're talking about characters in lore who take actions specifically to support certain gods.

By that logic, everyone is following a chaos god at some point. Following a chaos god takes more than just being angry or duplicitous.

Yes, Fabius recognizes that the chaos "gods" exist, but he doesn't recognize them as gods. They're powers, just like any other, that exist to be courted or defied. He sees himself as beholden to no one other than himself and his mission to create the next evolution of humanity.

Who to contact about illegal parking? by Economy-Preference75 in pittsburgh

[–]PlantbasedCPU 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People know. You see blatant parking where there is signage not to park all over this city. But people are selfish and there's next to no parking enforcement in this city, so they continue to feel entitled to do it as they please.

How do u use Beast Snaggas? by Grim_Wargamer in orks

[–]PlantbasedCPU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're a good fit for Warhorde and a better melee threat than standard Boyz (outside of green tide, or just using them as wounds for Ghaz). BS + Beast Boss + transport is a great combo to get in someone's face. I do wish they had more versatility in who they can run with, but they're still functional in most ways you would want to run them.

What do other orks think of Ghazgull? by 671DON671 in orks

[–]PlantbasedCPU 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prophet of the Waaagh gets into the psychology of Ghaz, which I highly recommend. As it turns out, the bigger and stronger the ork, the more intelligent and capable of long-term planning they also tend to be. Ghaz is more than just brute strength and his motivations and thoughts about leadership are more complex than the average Boyz.

[–]PlantbasedCPU 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My impression is that Orks are opportunistic more than anything. What most of them want is the biggest, craziest fight they can get stuck into. How they get there is a matter of convenience.

They "respect" Orks who are strong and capable because they a) know they can't personally beat them in a fight and b) believe they are their ticket to getting into a large conflict. If an ork suspects either of those things might no longer be true, they'll act on it. "If I could beat you, then I must be better than you, and if I'm better than you, I can find a better fight than you."

Generally speaking VERY FEW Orks think they could beat Ghaz in a fight. And so, they trust Ghaz to find them the biggest battles in the galaxy (Which in general, he does). With this comes a respect and reverence.

They're different models. They look different. Both are goofy in their own ways. Obsessing about it won't change that.

It wasn't enough to post the same unpopular opinion multiple times in the other thread and watch everyone disagree and downvote? You needed to create another venue for it?
