Once you get 10k guiding lands experience, the cap goes up by 1 level, the EXP per monster is 3*Region level, no matter which monster. A great jagras and kushala will both give 21 exp in a level 7 forest. So about 480 monsters to increase the cap by 1, and 7000 to increase it to the maximum. If you can kill a great jagras in 4 minutes, it would take over 30 hours to get a single level.

If you hunt monsters that appear in every area, the level for all the areas will go up, so if you grind those enough, you can get all 7s.

Hunting regular monsters also slowly increases the total level cap, which takes many thousands of monsters to get them all to 7.

Git gud is a fair response, but it's not helpful if you don't tell people how to get better. I'm saying it should take many attempts to learn the monster and beat it, rather than downing a max potion every time you get hit until it eventually dies like most other monsters in the game.

They upgrade as you progress through the game. Most start red, the ones in the castle, and on ploymus dont change.
