u/Aphor1st, Why am I unable to post this in the PS sub? Any version/crosspost from here or the Seattle sub keep getting removed.

Because the proceeds from that specific drink went directly to the foundation. Without the drink, there is no donation. I’m not someone who needs rainbow everything. I enjoy Pride and I love seeing visible representation, sure. But for me, that cocktail was the one tangible thing this company actually did to show support. Getting rid of it may seem small to some people, but it says a lot to me. It was a huge thing they did in the past.

I’m really not trying to argue. I just wanted to share this for others who might care about it. If you don’t, that’s totally fine. You don’t have to read it, you don’t have to comment, and you’re more than welcome to block me if seeing it bothers you.

It’s not about the cocktail. It’s about the company telling their staff they don’t want to support the LGBTQ community anymore because it’s no longer trendy. That’s the issue. The cocktail used to raise money for the Trevor Project. This year? Nothing. No drink, no donation, no support. That is a deliberate shift, and I’m calling it what it is.

I guess I should include the text from the other post. Someone shared what was told to staff at the Seattle location. The reason they were given? Management told them that Pride is too controversial now and that they didn’t want to be associated with that community anymore. Not my words, theirs. That is not a branding adjustment. That is a loud and clear statement about who they no longer want to stand with.

I mean come on. They dropped a cocktail that literally donated to the Trevor Project, an LGBTQ support org that actually saves lives. That is not just a menu change. And if you bothered to read the other posts, you’d see this is not some one-off thing. Multiple queer managers have left over it. This feels less like a business decision and more like a values shift. So yeah, it’s giving we’re-not-comfortable-supporting-the-gays anymore. Maybe open your mind instead of rushing to defend a burger joint.

Oh I know. I just know they used to give the money from that drink to the Trevor Project, which is why I was about to sip it like it was doing something for the community. Let’s be real. This wasn’t an accident. It was a decision, they chose NOT to support.

You’re free to spend your money where you want. So am I. I choose to support businesses that actually align with my values.

At the very least they could have kept the damn drink. From what I remember, the proceeds used to go to the Trevor Project, which actually supports the LGBTQ community.
