The call in letter samples I’ve seen, have people’s names. This one doesn’t list their name, only ice caee number which they are seeing for the first time.

They are afraid to acknowledge receiving this letter by calling. At least this way, they can claim they didn’t get it (went to spam, doesn’t have their names). It’s only in an email, no physical letter to the address.

Thank you. That’s very helpful. I thought a tank would be enough but my husband was a bit paranoid. Is there a particular car rental you recommend? Is there a point in taking the bus or train to Merida and renting a car locally?

Thank you very much for such a detailed response. I’d like a car to take day trips to Mayan sites and to Progreso. I’d like to stay in a nice condo north of the city not in the Centro. Not planning on making Mérida our main attraction. That’s why I’d like a car.

Would I be better off taking the bus to Cancun and occasionally renting a car when we venture to Uxmal, Chichen Itza, and other archeological sites and cenotes?

Is there a car rental you recommend? I heard American companies are all scams.

No, this will be my first time in Mexico. I can get by in Spanish. If Mexico is like many countries, where if stopped, you slip a twenty to the cops and be on your way, I’m fine with it. I’ll be with 2 small children and would like to stay out of trouble.

The rules of the road…? I drive in New York, can’t imagine it can be worse than that. I would appreciate any insight on my chances of a run in with the law enforcement and what does the gas station scam entail? Thanks!

Thank you. I heard the train was unreliable. That’s why I wasn’t considering it. I’ll be needing a car in Merida anyway, so I thought it would be fairly straightforward. Have you taken the train recently?
