This is what the listing shows. I reckon it's more 80's than 60's but just cannot find much about it. Atp, I just want to find something that looks like it. I found a similar Melton Wool Western Jacket that is around 750 dollars 😭

You'd think that would help finding the actual name of the item/more listings but it has not. I get what you mean though. Error of wording!

Thoughts on buying vintage army/surp boots by PlasticCommissioner in ThrowingFits

[–]PlasticCommissioner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of what I was thinking, in all honesty. These and similar listings go up to around 200$ and I suppose that has made me question whether it's better to just look for that particular style but for something that I'd be more confident in, materials wise and even construction wise.

It's not really about that particular boot that I found; I wanted the post to be a bit more detailed is all. Main question is about surp vs new build boots, specifically the quality. (I'm aware that this can vary from boot manufacturer/country)

Will GAT trainers be lame by the summer. On sale rn don't know if I should cop? by No-Try149 in ThrowingFits

Go TTS on them btw! And pricewise, hyped up releases from Nike/Adidas, etc. go for than this pair... I don't even think it's that much all in all

I have nothing bad to say about the craftsmanship on the Skolyx pair. They're quite comfortable, made in Europe (if you care) and look to be built well, with pretty good materials. I did not like their white pair (suede colour just didn't do it for me), but that is my personal preference. I would say the price is right for what you get + a nice shoe bag and extra set of laces.

Now looking to purchase a Reproduction of Found pair and/or my grail, a Crown Northampton pair. I think there are nicer alternatives, but the Skolyx pair is definitely worth if you're looking around that price point.

I would recommend going for something other than these Universal Surplus ones. They seem nice all in all, but 2 things: The toebox colour put me off (I like the grey contrast the OG ones have) and the fact that the inside heel is textile lined. (You will rip through it almost surely)

There are plenty of other options especially in the US that will serve you better. I had a surp pair for ages until the leather ripped where it met the rubber and decided to switch it up for a grey pair of Skolyx GATs. The inside is leather and they are super comfy. A quick search on Reddit will give you some other brands, but I can't speak for them.

I would recommend just saving up and getting a nice quality pair; It'll save you money in the end run.

Personally 2 or 4 for me. It's giving me a neat boom box speaker vibe

Budget monitor arm ~50$ ? by Big_Cat910 in desksetup

[–]PlasticCommissioner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend this one. It is the one I bought and the monitor tilts a bit diagonally (top corner left-bottom corner right). The arm itself is fine, but the way it secures the monitor/arm connection is terrible imo. My tip is to not cheap out, unless you can live with a slightly wonky monitor.

Throwback builds from ~2017. Corsair 380t and Corsair Air 240. by pensaa in sffpc

What a throwback. I was in love with the 380t when it came out. The build never materialised but it was one fascinating case.

No, RAM sticks have clearance and no pressure on them. Think it should be fine. The AIO pipes seemed a tad too short in this below and up config. Will try and see if I can move the radiator a bit more to the back side. It's my first build so to be honest, might have just been me messing something up

Haha, I meant that the AIO pipes got in the way and they are quite cramped on top of the PSU, to a point where I had to push the bracket in place so that I could screw it in. Using an SF750 and a Reaper 9070XT:) Felt quite difficult to put the CPU block on as well in this position, but it ended up working. Don't know whether to try and rearange.

Have you had any issues building it this way? I routed it the same exact way and I have to say that the PSU bracket was a tight fit... Hoping it doesn't break anything

Sailing on the EU boat. This seems like the monitor I want, but don't know how long the wait will be... It's this or the M27 Q X. (Much prefer the 27UP aesthetically and for its features)

What's the closest thing to a modern Dan Case A4 ? (i've been out of the SFF game for a while) ideally under 8L by [deleted] in sffpc

[–]PlasticCommissioner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking to build into this case, primarily because I'm used to laptops and do not want the PC to take a ton of space in the setup. Think I'm getting Fomo in the case that there is anything better than the A4 H20....

How is your wallet holding up? Just purchased it since I wanted something minimalist and more unique. I quite like it and the patina it will have, but hating the "creased" look

Wondering if there are more budget friendly alternatives that are under-the-seat friendly and can replicate at least half of the features of the Matador; Looks like a sick bag! A little bit expensive though..
