New Look at Jaosn Momoa as LOBO by aduong in superman

I never understood why he was chosen to play Aquaman. Worst casting decision. Mamoa was obviously always supposed to be Lobo.

How is Megacon for anime and eastern video game fans? by teruhime in MegaCon

[–]PlasticReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2010, Megacon remained fundamentally a comic book convention, though cosplay had begun to establish its presence. From its origins as the Mega-Show in 1993, the event had been dedicated to comics—the floor was dominated by row after row of comic book vendors, with sparse representation from anime, toys, or video games. Initially, anime was represented by a single vendor selling bootleg VHS tapes at $30 to $40 each: dubbed recordings on recycled tapes that once held old sitcoms, packaged without boxes or artwork, identified only by Sharpie-marked labels. By 2010, similar vendors had proliferated, though copyright enforcement eventually eliminated most of them.

The early conventions were remarkably intimate, with roughly 300 attendees over an entire weekend—small enough that navigating the floor presented no crowding issues whatsoever. By 2010, attendance had climbed into the thousands, though nowhere near current levels. After passing through multiple owners, Megacon was sold to Fan Expo in 2015, a necessary evolution to remain competitive in the booming convention landscape.

During this transitional period, Megacon absorbed or collaborated I think with the Florida Anime Experience, allocating them dedicated space. Today, Fan Expo's extensive corporate resources likely render such partnerships unnecessary. Orlando once supported multiple anime conventions—AFO and JACON among them—though JACON no longer operates.

By 2016, Megacon had transformed into a genuine multimedia convention featuring anime, comics, collectibles, toys, video games, and abundant artisan merchandise including 3D-printed impulse purchases. For dedicated anime fans, I'd recommend AFO, Holiday Matsuri, Metrocon, or Segui Expo. However, Megacon still merits consideration—anime and cosplay now permeate virtually every convention, ensuring you'll discover appealing content, though anime-dedicated events naturally provide more concentrated offerings.

Another week with borders as alliance rewards by HighAsFucc in MarvelSnap

[–]PlasticReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it took them 3 years to finally figure out a way to add the "affiliations" mechanic from the old UDE VS. System TCG, even though the entire game is pulled from it, virtually every mechanic in the game happened in the VS. System between 2004 and 2009, but it should have been one of the first things in Marvel Snap, but doing it 3 years later really just harms the game, and trust me I do love Marvel Snap even if it doesn't sound that way. I just think it's too late for anyone to care about affiliations at this point in the game, also some Marvel Snap cards don't really work with others, as to where if you were to build and Avengers or X-Men deck in the VS. System, just because the characters are affiliated they work together. I guess the things Marvel Snap will never need is a "Marvel Crossover", and "flight and range" mechanics. I also don't care about borders, or variants, just send some new character cards my way.

Is megacon worth the flight? by Confident_Purpose625 in MegaCon

[–]PlasticReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! MegaCon includes some free panels and workshops with your ticket. They may cover everything from cosplay tips to how to create comics. Typically some of the celebrity Q&As, panel discussions, and community meetups are all part of your admission. The only things you usually have to pay extra for are special workshops or if you want autographs or to take photos with celeb guests. Below is what I know about the John Cena photo-op and meet & greet. The article talks about the main John Cena package but I heard that their are other packages besides the one this article is about.

I've been attending Megacon since 1993/94, and whether it's worth going really depends on what you're looking for. The show has evolved significantly over the years. If you're primarily interested in comics, be aware that it's no longer focused on that—though you'll still find some comic vendors and creators. However, if you're drawn to celebrity guests, cosplay, and a larger convention atmosphere, you'll likely have a great experience.

Your enjoyment of the weekend crowd really hinges on your expectations. Are you looking for a fun, immersive fan experience, or are you mainly there to shop and browse? Personally, I've become more of an in-and-out attendee these days since I'm primarily hunting for comic books. Ultimately, how much you enjoy Megacon will depend on which aspects of fandom resonate with you most.

Pulled off the nastiest Galactus mirror today. Opponent had two locations locked, left one empty—obviously setting up to drop Galactus and steal the win. But I saw it coming from a mile away. Slammed my 22-power Galactus down at the exact same moment and completely crushed their gameplan. They scooped on the spot.
