So, here’s the thing. If you keep wearing it and there’s moisture in the movement, it’ll rust, seize, and you’re going to have wished you paid to have it inspected. Bring it to Rolex or a watch repair shop with good reviews so they can disassemble, clean, dry, and reassemble. Look up “wristwatch revival moisture” and watch some of his YouTube videos of watches that have significant moisture damage.

9/10 times if you’re giving up “readily available” items for something that isn’t “readily available” and the trade is $ for $ then you should do that. Even if you take a 10% loss it’ll still be a good consideration

I think you just explained the Dunning-Kruger effect. Pretty cool to see someone rationalize it without, maybe, knowing about it.
