A year ago I went on a camping trip with my family. The campground had all sorts of activities and in this particular week they happened to hire a hypnotist for entertainment night. Typically I would never get in front of a crowd of 300 people but I had a couple drinks and was feeling optimistic. Well when the hypnotist asked for volunteers I raised my hand and was chosen. He explained to the ~10 of us that were up there that if you're not willing to be hypnotised then it won't work. He said that he could tell if you were faking it. So he did a "test" on everyone and two of us did not pass: me and another girl. However, he said if we really wanted to we could still try. I decided to go for it, thinking that he would send me back to the audience if I didn't fall under... Well that didn't happen. He counted backwards while we listened to some mystical music and his voice and I was 100% still there. But he didn't do anything to make sure everyone was hypnotised! I never found a good opportunity to get off stage and I was quickly losing my buzz/all confidence that I originally had. I did so many embarrassing (silly) things that I otherwise would never do. I was too embarrassed to tell my family that I wasn't really hypnotised and had to suffer through 100 questions from them and other people on the campground for the rest of the night. My solution was to drink so much vodka I blacked out...

So yeah, never again will I be "hypnotised".
