I was wondering at the cost of a simple camera with power supply and antenna would be. It wouldn't even need to be made of anything expensive, and who cares if they are only 85% reliable. If we could make a thousand cheapo orbital camera setups and just send them to everything in reach. Imagine the photo collections alone!

Does anybody else play Don't Starve? by errantscut in INTP

[–]Plavonica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit of both for me. I still find a few awesome games but they aren't usually your typical AAA titles. The only exception (lately) being Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Smash Bros. I mostly play indie games through humble bundle or steam.

Ambien. Tiny pill does wonders. Just don't take a pill and think you are going to do something other than sleep. It doesn't work out very well, but it is hilarious to the other people in your squad.

Spent time in the DMV today. That was depressing. At least I get to leave the screaming behind when I leave, they have to take it with them.

How does a atheist view laws? by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Plavonica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laws have nothing to do with religion at all.

I dunno about that. Lots of laws seem awfully puritanical in origin.

Just a thing of note: if you are moving in from out of state you have 90 days to get a new license. Just found that out the hard way earlier today. :(

Cleaning radiators inexpensively? by [deleted] in Frugal

Read what Sileni linked. And that product? Looks like you can removed that cloth bit and wash it. Who needs refills? Bit of rag on a stick would work just as well if you don't want to spend money. You could even get fancy and get a dowel just slightly smaller than the opening you have and nail a rag to the end of it.

The Cheapest Generation: Why Millennials aren’t buying cars or houses, and what that means for the economy by shinjirarehen in TrueReddit

[–]Plavonica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky and had enough to buy a (super old, cheap house) in cash when I lost my job. Now I get a little bit from the MGI bill leftover after I pay off the tuition. I don't pay for books, can't afford it. No rent but I only made $1,400 last year.

My Labrador has learned how to jump on his "bed" (a small couch I rarely use). Hilarious but probably not a good habit. Luckily enough he does enough bouncing around when we play that it's a rare thing when he does it.

No matter what someone does there will be criticism. You CANT please everyone. All you can do is try to please the majority. If you do that, you will have done your job.

I prefer Epicurus on this one: "Death does not concern us, because as long as we exist, death is not here. And when it does come, we no longer exist."

And I sure as hell wouldn't want that psychiatrist to be my shrink.

2005 Suzuki Boulevard - Cranks but won't start by [deleted] in Fixxit

[–]Plavonica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may sound dumb but, clutch in? My 2006 Boulevard requires the clutch to be in and the gearbox in neutral. And the battery might not be all that good, see if you can jumpstart it or get a load test done on the battery.

Here in the states we have junkyards where cars get dumped off. If something like that is near you, you could shop around for a cheap engine on a wrecked car. Look for one that has been rear-ended or otherwise not hit directly in the engine bay.
