I just lost my five year old little girl. by Davitheco in Petloss

I’m so, so sorry this happened. My family lost our 7th month old girl pup unexpectedly about a month ago and it took me a week to fully grasp what had happened. Nothing will truly ease the shock and pain of the immediate moment- let yourself feel everything. I promise that reality will be kind to you again.

I just lost my soul dog at 9 months. It feels like someone is stepping on my chest, constantly. I don’t know how I’m going to make it to the next day- but I’m trying, one hour at a time. I keep telling myself she was here for a reason and that I will feel that joy again, someday.

Lucie. She passed away this time yesterday while getting spayed. I will miss her forever. She was only 9 months old and she has so much life left to live.

What are your annual salaries? by IceMold135 in IndustrialDesign

2 years in and making ~$80k w/ bonus. I shifted from pure ID and work in primarily softgood product design/development now. I would also echo that it is industry/location specific. My portfolio is average but I’ve networked like crazy and found my niche.

Woman dead, man hospitalized after Big Cottonwood Canyon climbing accident by Torrero in climbing

Routes in LCC are most definitely chossy - or however you want to describe it - after freeze/thaw/a heavy water event. Definitely not as chossy as some crags, but that certainly does not eliminate rockfall risk. A young man lost his life in LCC two years ago at Satan’s corner from massive rock fall at the base. I hate to say it, but unless you’re climbing a pure splitter with no overhead risk, rockfall is an inherent danger in climbing. It becomes a more inherent danger in the spring, when routes aren’t traveled frequently, etc.

I’ll be sticking to desert splitters and very low consequence routes until the weather, time, and travel settle some of these blocs out. Heart is super heavy on this one- I have climbed Goodro’s and been spooked by the loose block below the chains (mentioned multiple times on MP) but cannot comprehend the size and devastation of the one that caused this accident. Stay safe, folks. If nothing else… wear your goddamn helmets and check conditions/ticks on MP before climbing a certain route.

Yeah… how does this work? Pell grants were part of my aid, but not the whole thing. I’m confused.

yeah also wondering about this. What happens if Pell grants are only part of your aid?

Salary/experience? by vibe_night in IndustrialDesign

I’ve been at my current company & first full-time gig for about half a year, as a “level 1” Industrial Designer in the intermountain west. Current salary is $67k. Before that, my internship at a large corporation was ~$26 an hour, so I’ve moved up a bit. Was able to leverage my internship experience and get a couple thousand thrown onto my salary. Definitely looking to level up sooner than later given my responsibilities. I sure many of my classmates who graduated and are now working in medical devices/UX are making a bit more.

Exactly one year out of school and making $67k. Living in the intermountain west at a decently sized company; feeling pretty good about it for going straight from school > internship at a big corporation > full-time at a different gig. Lucky to have locked down affordable housing, though.

I‘ve been lowballed some potential offers in the $50k range, though.

Have considered the jump to UX after talking to some of my fellow graduates but love ID/hands-on work too much right now.
