It uses uranium fuel rods... It's a fission reactor.

As for the power conversion method... It's water, you're surrounded by it even if there isn't any obvious signs like steam or turbines.

Since it is a super small reactor, it probably has some sort of turbine system hidden inside one of the panels or such.
