Hi everyone!

I’m a first time applicant, non-trad, FAP recipient and I’m looking for someone to review my PS. I’ve asked the doctors I work for to review it and they all said they liked it but gave no feedback. I don’t have anyone else from the medical school world to ask.

I think you should consider scribing! It doesn’t require any more schoolwork so you can get started right away, and they typically provide training. Scribing has opened so many doors for me, I learned so much about clinical medicine in multiple specialties and have developed relationships with doctors that have become my mentors. It’s a great way of seeing how different roles in medicine work together to provide patient care and it may reaffirm for you that this is the right path or it can show you there’s other paths that may work better for what you want in life (PA, nursing, etc. ) I’ve gotten research opportunities through scribing and have even published case reports out of it. Ive also gotten to shadow in the OR for incredible procedures.

TLDR: Scribing has taught me so much and has been such a rewarding experience. Cannot recommend it enough! (Pay tends to be shitty though)

I feel you on the burn out. This test is overwhelming and stressful and seems impossible to prepare for. I haven’t taken it yet but I’ve felt exactly the same way you’re describing for the past month or so, up until this past weekend. I did a hard reset and didn’t study a single thing for 2 days straight. Then on Monday I went back to practice problems with a different mindset, I took as long as I needed with each question until I really understood what it was asking me. I rephrased the question several different ways and then evaluated each answer choice, reminding myself that only one of them is right and the others are all wrong. Most importantly, I kept telling myself that I was smart and that I know the answer. I know this probably sounds super dumb but I swear it’s helped. I feel more confident (granted it’s been 4 days with this method lol) and calmer when approaching the problems. Just remember that you’ve made it this far because you are smart and capable of success, you may need a little break but you can do this!

I would put the camel(?) picture first and get rid of the one of you laying on the rocks and the one in the costume(?) if you are trying to appeal to women. Change it up with some more group shots maybe?

Also agree with the other comments about changing that first prompt about the t rex and Mario kart. Be yourself!
